Lula’s day at the Supreme Cat Show

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you are all OK? I promised you a full report of Lula’s day at the Supreme Cat Show and I’m sorry I’m a little late in writing this up! But I have been so busy – I’ve been playing with my feathers, having the odd catnap here and there in my new bed, chasing some bugs, having some catnaps in my other beds… the time has just run away with me! I’m such a busy boy πŸ˜‰

Anyway, back to the subject matter… so we were all woken up much too early for a Caturday and after a few last minute grooms and cleans of Lula and the hoomins, Lula, mummy and daddy went off to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham for the big day.

After queuing up for Lula’s vet check, they then went into the hall to find her pen, number 596. The Supreme cat show is different to all the other ones as the hoomins are allowed to decorate the pens and they even have a “best-dressed pen” competition! Our very good friend, Alex, very kindly decorated Lula’s pen for us (she goes to the halls the previous day to help with setting up) so that was a huge help! Thank you, Alex! Here’s Lula showing how comfy she is in her pen:

Once Lula was settled, mummy and daddy had a coffee and a quick look around the different trade stands to see what presents they could buy for us all. Then, at around 9:30am, the general public are allowed in and the halls get much busier with lots of different people interested in all the cats πŸ™‚ My mummy said it was lovely to chat to people while she waiting for Lula’s class to be judged! Then at around 11-ish, the steward arrived at Lula’s pen to take her to the judging ring, so it was time for Lula to be on her best behaviour! (though if I’m honest, even when Lula is on her best behaviour, she’s still very naughty compared to some other cats! πŸ˜† )

Once at the judging ring, the cats are placed into holding pens until it’s their turn to be judged. When it is, the stewards take them out individually to take to the judge. The judge does their thing, and then the cat is put back in their holding pen while the other cats are judged and the final decisions made.

Despite Lula being quite loud, she was awarded her Imperial Grand Premier certificate, which is superb! She has 2 now so needs another 3 (from different judges) to be able to earn the title of Imperial Grand Premier cat!

After all that was done, Lula was taken back to her pen where she had lots of fuss and attention from everyone and mummy even gave her some of our favourite chicken treats! We also spoke to some of our friends from our Facebook page who had come along to the show and stopped by Lula’s pen to say hi!

What’s going on out there then?

Lula did very well at the show and we’re all very proud of her πŸ™‚ But our Uncle BooBoo is who we want to be like one day – he won Best Foreign Neuter in show! He beat lots and lots of different cats of different breeds to earn this – he is owned by our good friend Alex who we mentioned earlier, so we were so happy for both our Uncle and our good friend πŸ™‚

Here’s our Uncle BooBoo with the steward when he was being judged for Best of Variety:

So a great day was had by all! After the excitement was over, all that was left was for everyone to pack up and go home – even the trek to the car park in the pouring rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and then when Lula was home, we all had one of our favourite dinners of Salmon and Mussels πŸ™‚ Then we all had a big catnap, I especially liked the new comfy bed that mummy and daddy bought for meΒ … erm …..us at the show – ZZzzzzzzzz……

I hope you enjoyed reading our update!

Great weekend :)

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’ve had such a good weekend! If you follow my Facebook/Twitter pages you’ll know I had a great day at the show yesterday πŸ™‚ I got a Reserve Grand certificate, which basically means 2nd place πŸ˜† but I won Best of Breed out of all the neutered brown spotty Bengal cats that were there! My mummy and daddy are very happy with that πŸ™‚

I also saw my cat daddy, he doesn’t go to shows very often as he’s still a stud cat and they’re not necessarily the easiest cats to show! He only needs one more Grand certificate, and then he can earn the title of Grand Champion! But, like me, he didn’t quite do it and was awarded the Reserve Grand, though he got Best of Breed out of all the non-neutered brown spotty Bengals πŸ™‚

Here’s some pics from the show:

Then today, it was back to play time in the garden with Lula! We’ve had a cold but sunny day, so purrfect for getting some fresh air and feeling the wind in my fur πŸ˜‰

Our cat show results and pics

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Wow! What a good day we had at the show yesterday! Mummy was very proud of us as, not only did we do well in our classes, but we were also quite well behaved! πŸ™‚ Β Here I am looking really quite chilled in my pen:

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Zzzzzz…..

So, how did the day go? We got up really early, it was still very dark outside, and we were wondering if we couldn’t have just a bit longer in bed! But mummy said we couldn’t as we were picking up mummy’s friend, Alex, and her cat, Daisy, on the way and we weren’t allowed to be late! So we were on time at her house, and we all made our way to the show which was in Warwickshire πŸ™‚

When we arrived, we all passed our vet checks with flying colours and mummy got our pens ready for us. She settled us in and we were ready for the judging to begin! If you want more info on how shows work, there’s a tab at the top of the page ^^ you can click on which tells you lots more details.

Lula’s already a Grand Premier cat, so she was competing for her first Imperial certificate at this show, and the good news is that she got it!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Lula admiring her rosette

Lula now needs 4 more Imperial certificates (from different judges) to be an Imperial Grand Premier cat πŸ™‚ You’ll see also in the pic that she beat all the other snow Bengals to win Best of Breed too! She is a clever girl!

I’m a little behind Lula with earning my titles, and I’m only a Premier cat, so I was trying to get my first Grand Premier certificate. You need 3 of these (from different judges) to earn the title, and I didn’t get anywhere in my Grand class the last time I tried πŸ™

I did better this time, though I still didn’t get the certificate, but I got the Reserve certificate, which effectively means I came 2nd. Mummy was very proud of this though as it was my grand-dad, Sabu, who beat me and who got the Grand, but I still beat other great cats to earn the Reserve.

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I’m too chilled to look at my rosette πŸ™‚

You’ll see in the photo that I won Best of Breed. It’s a bit funny with cat shows because, although Sabu beat me to the Grand certificate, it was a different judge for the Best of Breed class, and she placed me above Sabu! So we were both winners which was nice! πŸ™‚ Here’s a pic of Sabu:

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
My grand-dad, Sabu

So those were the most important bits, but we were also entered into three side or miscellaneous classes. These are just a bit of fun really and don’t count towards any titles πŸ™‚

Mummy usually tries to put Lula and me in separate side classes, but this time she put us both in the same one for one of our three. And I am very proud to announce that I came 2nd and Lula came 3rd! So I beat her for once – YAY!! πŸ˜†

I came 1st and 3rd in my other two side classes, whereas Lula got a 2nd and an unplaced! So it wasn’t Lula’s day in that department but she told me she doesn’t care as she got her Imperial certificate – ooooh! She’ll be milking that one for days, I tell you! πŸ˜†

We all had a lovely day, but we were glad to get home – mummy made us a special tea, and also for Harry, Robbie and Friday as they had been very good waiting for us at home all day πŸ™‚ We then had a really nice sleep and a long lie in πŸ™‚

Take care my friends!

Time flies!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Well, we were looking at the calendar today and we can’t believe how quickly time goes by! I’m sure we’re not alone in this, are we? πŸ™‚

We’re all going to a cat show tomorrow – the Tabby Cat Club show. This was the very first show mummy went to as an exhibitor – she’d been to a couple previously, but never actually showing a cat.Β She just took Lula last year as she wasn’t sure if she – or us – would like it or not πŸ™‚Β Lula did very well, she got two 1st places and two 2nd places πŸ™‚

Lula was in the kitten classes where you don’t actually earn any merits towards titles etc, the kitten classes are to help cats get used to shows from a young age. Once they reach 9 months old, cats then go into the Adult (if unaltered) or Neuter classes and this is where you can work towards titles.

So now we go back again, with me this time! Lula has of course earned her Grand Premier title since we started going into the Neuter classes back in March and I’ve earned my Premier title! So Lula will be hoping to get her first Imperial certificate and I’ll be competing for my first Grand certificate! Confusing, eh? πŸ˜†

Anyway, enough of all this waffle! Here’s some photos of Lula at the show last year – she was four-and-a-half months old here πŸ™‚

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Last time I posted, I said I’d let you all know how I got on at the cat show I went to on Caturday πŸ™‚ Some of you will have already seen how I did if you follow my Facebook/Twitter pages, but I thought I’d share some more photos here that I’ve not posted elsewhere.

Overall, I didn’t have a good show and I didn’t get my Grand certificate – this was my first attempt at getting a Grand and you need 3 to earn the title, so it wasn’t the best of starts πŸ˜† The competition was very good, though, as competing against me was an Egyptian Mau and an Asian and my big brother Star, who’s a snow Bengal. Neither of us two Bengals got the Grand or the Reserve, so I guess it just wasn’t our day!

I got a 2nd and a 3rd in a couple of my side classes, but was unplaced in the other.

Lula and I are both entered in a show in early October, but I think I heard my mummy say that I will be having a break from shows until next year after that one. Lula is going to a couple in November, including the Supreme Cat Show which is the biggest cat show of the year and takes place at the NEC in Birmingham (for my UK friends).

Anyway, as promised, here’s some more photos of me at Caturday’s show πŸ™‚

Lula’s a Grand Premier!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you are all ok, and my friends in the UK have had a nice long weekend, with an extra day off work πŸ™‚

Those of you who like my Facebook page will probably know already that Lula had a fantastic day at the cat show on Saturday! It Β was one of the furthest-away shows that we go to as it was in Middlesborough which (in case you don’t know) is in the north-east of England and we’re in the mid-west! So mum and Lula set off very early and drove to our breeder’s house as mummy is very good friends with her and they go to most shows together πŸ™‚

Being as it was so far, mummy paid extra and Lula had a double pen so she could stretch her paws out which she said she liked!

Lula needed just one more Grand certificate to earn herself the title of Grand Premier cat and the good news is that she achieved it πŸ˜†

Bengal Cat at Show
Rosettes πŸ™‚

This means that she will now compete to be an Imperial Grand Premier cat! This is very tough to earn though as she we will be competing against a lot more breeds of cat, so we’re not taking anything for granted.

But at the end of the day, it’s not to be taken too seriously as it’s only a bit of fun! πŸ™‚

Latest show news :)

Hello again, Spot here!

I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend, the trouble with them is that they go so quickly, isn’t it? πŸ™‚

We went to the Bengal Cat Club cat show yesterday, and if you read my Facebook page, you’ll know that we had a fantastic set of results!

Here’s how we did in detail! So I’ll start with me πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Keeping my fur in tip-top condition!

The closing date for this show was BEFORE the last show we went to, so even though I now have enough Premier Certificates (PCs) to qualify as a Premier Cat. I was entered into the Premier Certificate class again… which I won!! So I now have 4 PCs πŸ˜† Then in my three side classes, I got two first places and one second place, so pretty good results!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I’m going to get that mouse!

I had a great day… but Lula had an even better one! She was going for her 2nd Grand Premier Certificate, and was in a very tough class with lots of other great cats! So mummy was exceptionally proud when she won it and therefore her certificate! But then even better she beat all the other snow spotty Bengals to get Best of Breed! πŸ˜€ But then, and mummy couldn’t believe this, she then won Best Female Neuter in Show! This meant that she went to the Best in Show Pens for the overall judging!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Lula next to our Uncle BooBoo

So here’s Lula next to our Uncle BooBoo. He won Best Male Neuter and they were therefore up against each other for Best Neuter in Show. Now, bearing in mind that Uncle BooBoo is an Imperial Grand Premier and is much more mature than Lula, we thought she stood no chance. But then the judge placed her above him, so she won Best Neuter in Show!!

She was then up against the Best Adult and the Best Kitten for Best in Show overall. This is where Lula didn’t win as the adult was awarded that title.

But what a fantastic day, and to do all that where there were so many lovely Bengals in the show meant that mummy was extremely proud πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

To top all of this, mummy won a bottle of wine in the raffle and has also found out today that one of our photos won in the photo competition and so will appear in the 2013 Bengal Cat Club calendar.

We are all so happy!

I hope you had as good a weekend as us πŸ™‚

Love from Spot xx

Phew! What a great day!

Hello my friends, Spot here again πŸ™‚

I hope you’re all well and your working week has started off ok for you. My weeks are usually pretty similar – lots of play, naughtiness, eating and cat-napping! Ahhh! Such is life πŸ˜†

Anyway, as you all know, we were at the cat show on Caturday. It was a double show with two cat clubs sharing the same venue so we had twice the amount of judges looking at us, but that also meant we had the potential to win twice the amount of classes!

So how did we do? Well, I needed 2 Premier Certificates to earn the title of Premier Cat, and that is exactly what I got! So all my mummy needs to do now is officially claim my title!

Lula was already a Premier Cat so was trying to earn Grand Premier certificates, you need 3 of these to earn the title of Grand Premier cat. The competition can get tougher the higher you go, but Lula was successful in gaining one certificate πŸ™‚ She then got a Reserve certificate, which is the runner up – a lovely white Sphynx cat beat her πŸ™‚

We had some mixed results in our side classes – I got a couple of first places and a couple of second places. Lula got a couple of first places too and got a second place out of a huge class of 11 cats of different breeds!

Here’s some pics!

Our granddaddy was at the show too, and set a great example for us! He won Best of Variety and went forward to the Best in Show finals where he finished second! We’re sure you’ll agree he’s a handsome chap! Here he is in his Best of Variety special pen πŸ™‚

So a great day was had by all, but it’s our very favourite show coming up next, the Bengal Cat Club Show which is taking place on 28th July – we can’t wait πŸ™‚

We love squashy sofas :)

Hello everyone, Spot here!

I hope you are all well πŸ™‚

We are so excited as tomorrow is not only Caturday, but it’s a special cat show Caturday!

It is quite a long way to travel for us, so we’re having an early night tonight which got me to thinking about one of our favourite sleeping spots which some of you may remember. It is of course the bit of the sofa that we all sleep on so much, it is almost always completely squashed down! It won’t win any awards in an interior design magazine, but us cats love it!

Here’s a few pics of us making the most of it:

We love long weekends!

Hello everyone!

I’m very happy because it’s an extra l-o-n-g weekend here in the UK!! We’ve had not only Caturday and Sunday, but Monday ANDΒ Tuesday are public holiday days too! This is to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee – she’s been on the throne for 60 years. 60 years!! Gosh, I can’t even imagine that amount of years! I think she must be quite bored of doing that job by now πŸ˜†

So, we’ve had a busy weekend so far! We went to the Merseyside Cat Club show yesterday which took place near Liverpool. Lula did very well! Β She came first in her breed class and also got first place in both of her side classes! Here she is in her pen:

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Lula taking it in her stride

And here’sΒ her breed class rosette:

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
1st Place!

She also, more importantly, got her third Premier Certificate which means she can now claim the title of Premier Cat (please see my cat show corner page if you want an explanation of these things!).

We have to get in touch with the GCCF now to make it all official, and then in future shows she can try and get to Grand Premier! Here’s all of her Premier Certificates:

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Isn't she a clever girl?

Mummy also entered us both into a special Diamond Jubilee class – but there were also 18 other cats entered of different breeds, and they only awarded first place which went to another cat. Oh well!

I didn’t have such a good show as Lula. I came second in my breed class. I was beaten by a very nice cat who was at his first show! But he was lovely, so I don’t mind that he came in front of me πŸ™‚ I did get a rosette of my own for 2nd place though:

Bengal Cat Blog photo
2nd place ain't so bad!

I then got a first place in one of my side classes (Yay!!) and a 4th place in my other one (boo!!).

Here’s me behaving in my pen πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog and Photos
Chillin'

Being as I didn’t get my Premier Certificate, I’ve still got to get two more from two different judges before I can call myself a Premier Cat like Lula! But mummy has a cunning plan!! The next show we are going to is two-shows-in-one! This happens from time-to-time, but it basically means I have two chances at the next show of getting a PC which will get me to Premier Cat if I get them πŸ™‚

But that’s not for a few weeks yet, so in the meantime, we’ll just carry on playing in the field and running around in the garden like the pet cats that we really are πŸ˜‰

Well, I’m going to go and eat my jubilee tea now! Speak again soon πŸ™‚
