A Trip Down Memory Lane

Hello my friends, Spot here!

We’re going to be taking a trip down memory lane today 🙂 My mummy says we have lots of new followers who’ve not seen some of our baby pics before, and indeed a lot of the photos I’m going to share have not been seen by even the longest standing of our friends 🙂

So it’s all about me today! 😆 But my mummy said I need to include Lula too, so I suppose it would be nice to do that 🙂

Lula and I were born on 14th May 2011, we were the only two in our litter and we’ve not spent a night apart ever 🙂

We came to live with mummy and daddy in August 2011 and we soon settled in.

We found lots of new games to play like “playing with the scratching post that doubled up as a door post” – I bet you’ve not heard of that game before have you?

We also soon discovered the lovely new tunnel that the hoomins had bought for us

Hi!

We loved our scratching post too, though it didn’t last all that long and is now replaced by our Tigga Towers 🙂

It was also good for snoozing on… at least I liked to snooze, Lula always has been the more alert out of the two of us 🙂

What’s up Lula?

Even when she lay down, she didn’t always sleep!

But she did give in and have a nice catnap now and again, and we both looked so innocent!

When we weren’t sleeping, we explored around the house, Lula liked the bath

When the water wasn’t switched on, she found a more conventional way to have a drink 🙂

Meanwhile, I liked to practise the camouflage look in the houseplants!

Bet you can’t see me! Or maybe you can 🙂

At the end of the day, it was all about being cute, and here I am trying to be just that! 🙂

Show Day for the Brown Spotty Boys!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

So I thought I’d let you know all about my big day out yesterday. Oh, and Spike’s too I guess 😆

I knew something was a-happening on Friday evening as my mummy first of all trimmed my claws, then cleaned my face and ears – I don’t mind the ears, it’s when she does my eyes and nose that I complain about the indignity of it all – then she spruced up my coat! As if it needed sprucing!

Then she did the same to Spike but not Annie so I guessed it was to be a boys’ day out 🙂 I heard mummy say something to daddy about Annie having a little summer holiday from shows, so it was up to us to fly the Bengal Cat World flag! 😀

And I was right! At some unearthly hour in the middle of the night yesterday, the hoomins awoke from their slumber and put every single light on in the house they could find (or at least it seemed like that, they should learn to have better night vision, it would be so beneficial for them 😆 ) – then once they had finished preening themselves, they hoisted me and Spike into our carrier and off we went to a show many miles away….

We were there very early, as usual, so there were no actual vets even there yet for vetting in, so daddy stayed with us whilst mummy started to set up her stall.

After a while, daddy took us to vetting in but it wasn’t our breeder, Sue, like it usually is (she was at a different show). It was a man vet! 😯 Spike decided he didn’t like him very much and actually hissed at him! Can you believe it? I don’t think I’ve ever heard him hiss before, so he was showing a bit of a new side 😆

But as soon as we were into the show hall, he was his old self again and daddy set about cleaning and preparing our pens. We soon settled in though I think I might need a bigger bed 😆

Chillin in the bed

Spike was back to his usual laid back self, and was in the pen right next door to me. He decided he preferred not being in the bed at all! 🙂

Spike doesn’t need a bed

After a while, it was time for us to be nice to all the judges who came along to see us 🙂 We are both at the same level, so we were both competing to get the Imperial certificate with whoever else was in the class, and of course we are both the same breed so we were both competing for Best of Breed with any other brown spotties who were there 🙂

Luckily, my mummy wasn’t in the dark as she had the show catalogue, so she could see that there were 7 cats in total going for the Imperial – alongside myself and Spike there were some Cornish Rexes and some Asian tabbies too and some others that I can’t remember.

But only one would get the desired Imperial certificate, and one would get Reserve and the others would get nothing…

For Best of Breed, myself and Spike were up against a girl Bengal who herself was very lovely so that would be tough as only one of us would win!

We had a long long wait for the results to come out…. Best of breed was first and the winner was ……. Spike! Yay! ( <—- my mummy made me say that 😆 )

Then there was a long gap to wait for the Imperial which was a good job as my mummy’s stall was absolutely hectic with lots of people buying lots of lovely kitty things from there 😉

But then the result was finally up though we weren’t expecting to win….. so we were really pleasantly surprised when we found out that the winner was Spike! Yay again! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Here’s his lovely rosette 🙂

Spike’s rosette

After all that excitement, we then had another lovely treat in that our good page friend, Izzy, and her friend, Janina, came to visit me! (and Spike, but I am her favourite 😀 ) It was so lovely to see you Izzy at last, you have been a very loyal friend of the page pretty much as soon as it began, so thank you! And Janina was a lovely smiley lady too! 🙂

The only thing left to wait for now was the side class results.

I came 2nd out of 4 in one of mine, and was unplaced in the other.

Spike came 1st out of 2 in one of his and 2nd out of 6 in the other, so yet more great results for the golden boy! 🙂

Then it was time to pack up and drive home. I did supervise my daddy quite closely on the drive back to make sure his driving was up to my strict standards 😆

Supervising daddy

And in between times, I had a snooze in the carrier which I kind of let Spikey share but he was only allowed to have a little bit 🙂  Though I did allow him to use me as a pillow (I am nice like that)

Snoozing on the way home

Then we got home and little Annie in particular was so pleased to see us! She had missed her favourite boy (me) and her brother and the hoomins! She was very clingy for the rest of the evening and today as well! (note to self: “don’t go out again without the little pesky”)

But I don’t think I will be going to any more shows anyways, my friends, as my mummy said she will probably retire me and let the two youngsters represent us which they do so well. I must admit, I do get much better catnaps when I’m at home, so that’s fine by me 😆

Take care my friends!

Our World this week :)

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Can you believe it’s Sunday already? It’s amazing how quickly a week passes, isn’t it? We’ve had some nice things happen this week and of course some not so nice things…

You may recall at the start of the week, our Spike decided to worry the entire household by staying out overnight when he shouldn’t 😯 Luckily, he came home the next day, but he would still like to escape given the chance. Here he is plotting his next move, naughty big pesky 😆

Spike plotting

I had a much nicer week though 🙂 As you probably know by now, I do like a little catnap now and again and I do like my comfort. All for research purposes, you understand 🙂

Having a nap in Mummy’s office

Quite often, though, I have a little person helping me with my “research”…

Little Annie helping me

This week, I was able to put my research powers to good use – see! I knew there was a reason for me purrfecting my snoozing skills all these years!

My mummy’s nice friends at Tigga Towers gave her one of their new memory foam cat pillows, and asked if she could see what us cats thought of it!

Well! Of course, I’m always happy to oblige if it means helping others, so I waited patiently for mummy to fluff it up and position it, and there I was – straight on the case to see what it was like! 😆

Mind you, it didn’t take long for the little pesky to join me – it’s a good job there’s room for two!

Testing out the pillow

So I asked Annie what she thought and she said it was very comfortable indeed, and for a change I actually agreed with her! I can see us me having lots and lots of nice snoozes on it – its so lovely and soft yet supportive at the same time! And just the purrfect size for us 🙂

Then we asked our mummy what she thought…

What do you think mummy?

She said that the main thing is that we like it which we clearly do. Lots of people buy beds that their cats hardly ever use, but this wasn’t the case here.

She then got all sensible about it, saying how practical it is as the outer cover is easily removed and washed, and there is wipe clean surface covering the inside pillow in case of little accidents. Not that I would have any ‘little accidents’ of course 😯

She knows how well the Tigga Towers covers wash from looking after the coverings on the towers we have 🙂 So compared to some other cat beds, it’s very easy to take care of.

I must admit, I did start to drift off a little here as I think practical is a bit boring if I’m honest 🙂 All I know is that it’s comfy and snuggly and is now my favourite bed if I’m in that part of my World 🙂

In the meantime, Lula was outside enjoying a cat nap in her hammock for a change as Spike wasn’t occupying it 🙂

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz…

And then Annie decided it was time for some fresh air, so she went to catch some rays

Little Annie

This week has also seen our Friday cat going somewhere we don’t like going – to the Cat Doctor! She had a poorly mouth with sore teeth and gums. Well, she is 18½ so she’s had those teeth for a long time 🙂

Luckily, the Cat Doctor was able to give her some meds which have helped a lot, so hopefully we can avoid her needing to have surgery which is a bit of a risk at her age.

When she came back from that place, I was nice and let her sit on my new bed and Lula kept her company 🙂

Having a chat

In fact, I have been very nice and let Lula and Harry use my pillow. And both of them have had the little Annie pesky join them on it too! There’s no escaping her 🙂

So the only cat in our World who I’ve not seen on my new bed is Robbie.

Robbie likes the simple things in life and often sleeps in a cardboard box which has a pillow in for him, though I think I need to educate him on trying something new 🙂

Meanwhile, I settled down for a nice snooze. Accompanied by you-know-who 😆

So that’s a week in our World, my friends! I hope you enjoyed catching up with all seven of us 🙂

Take care!

Annie and Spotty’s day at the cat show!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’m of course here to tell you all about our day yesterday at the cat show 🙂 Yes, I was dragged away from my comfy bed at an unearthly hour, and taken miles away to the show… but it was OK as I was still able to chill and get lots of catnaps in during the day 🙂 So worry not, my friends! 😆

When I say ‘chill’ I must be forgiven for tittering a little to myself as the show hall was very hot and all the hoomins were sweating! But both myself and Annie, and in fact almost every cat there, had lovely cooling fans on our pens, so we kept lovely and cool! 🙂 But there were lots of red-faced hoomins moaning about how hot it was 😆

This was a big double show – the Lincolnshire and the Humberside. There were just under 300 cats there, but the hall is very large so there was plenty of room for everyone.

Annie was entered into both shows, but I was only entered into one  – mummy said that’s just how she does it now and again (for reasons I fear only she knows about! 😯 )

For the benefit of any new readers, I’m shown in the ‘Foreign’ section which is the Pedigree category for Bengals; Annie is shown as a Pedigree Pet in the Household Pet section as she has a slightly overshot jaw which would be classed as a withholding fault in the Pedigree section.

This was my first show for a while, but I soon remembered the ropes and quickly settled in my double pen

Settling in

In fact, I was so settled that daddy took another couple of pics of me to prove it 😀

Settled part 2 🙂

Still settled!

So there. That’s that settled then 🙂

Annie was equally at home in her pen 🙂

Annie checking things out

I think this is OK, daddy!

So that was enough of the settling in pics… pretty soon, morning judging started and the hoomins waited anxiously for the results to come in 🙂

I was in the Imperial Grand Premier Class, I already have one Imperial certificate, but I need 5 to earn the title.

But it was a tough class with 9 wonderful cats of lots of different ‘Foreign’ breeds, and it wasn’t to be… I wasn’t awarded the certificate, though I did win Best of Breed for the Bengals! Yay!

Here’s a pic to show my rosettes 🙂

Best of Breed rosettes

Annie is much more advanced than me with her titles, she is in the top tier now – the Olympian classes! She already has Olympian Bronze and needed one more certificate to earn the Silver title.

There were 4 cats in total going for the Olympian in both shows, so it wasn’t going to be easy, but then it never is, especially at that level.

The first result came in for the Humberside show… and Annie didn’t get the certificate, though she was awarded the Reserve Olympian which in effect means she was placed 2nd.

This was quite different for Annie as, in all her previous Olympian classes, she has either won it or not been placed at all – one thing or another. This was the first time she had earned an Olympian Reserve  which is still an achievement though not of course enough for her to earn the title.

Then the results for the Lincolnshire show came in … and she wasn’t placed at all in that one! So she must try again at another show to get that final certificate she needs for silver! Mind you, she is still very young! She is almost always the youngest in the Olympian classes, being just over 2 years old – the next youngest yesterday was 6 years old 🙂 So there is absolutely plenty of time.

Despite not winning the Olympian, Annie did very well in all her other classes!

She won Best of Colour in both shows (the Pet equivalent of Best of Breed), and in her side classes, she came first in three and second in the other.

One of her side classes was the Derek Rawnsley Memorial Class. This is a special class for the Humberside show and there were 9 cats in it! And our little Annie was the winner! She not only won a fabulous rosette, but also a special prize too which was gift wrapped

Special Prize

Whatever could it be?

My mummy opened it and it was a lovely candle Glowdome that has Cats and butterflies etched on to it – very pretty! 🙂

So, apart from not winning the Olympian, Annie had a great day, and here she is with all her ribbons/rosettes to prove it!

Where’s Annie? 🙂

She is in there somewhere 😉

Then, it was time to go home, back in the lovely air-conditioned cars where I had some more catnaps and Annie kept standing on me in the carrier as she wanted to look out of the window… *sigh*

Annie’s having a break for the next show in a few weeks time, so it will be time for the boys – Spike and me – to put our best paw forward! 🙂

Take care my friends!

Bengal Ladies at the Bengal Spa!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

My daddy says we’re very lucky cats – he’s been making even more improvements to our cat garden and he thinks we’re very spoiled! 😆

Yes, he has just put the finishing touches to our new Bengal Spa and it wasn’t long before the ladies – Lula and little Annie – checked it out!

Spike and I, being the gentlemen that we are, let them have first go. We are good boys like that, you see 🙂

Annie may be little, but she’s never afraid of trying out new things first and sure enough she was soon investigating 🙂

Oooh! This looks interesting!

She then spotted the kitty toys from our kitty paddling pool that my mummy had put into the water

She watched them as they went downstream a little

I’m going to get the toys!

And then decided to have a look at the end bit instead 🙂

Annie looking at the end bit

Then it was time to appreciate the whole thing from a different angle!

It’s always good to look at things from a different perspective 🙂

Then Lula came along to look at the toys which had been put back to the top

And she too was enjoying different views….

…. until I came along and made her jump!

Lol! I made you jump, Lula!

So then she decided to get her own back and chased me around the cat garden until I surrendered! 😆 Oh well, at least that left the Bengal Spa free for me and Spike to enjoy! 🙂

Funtime in our Garden :)

Hello my friends, Spot here!

What a wonderful few days we’ve had in our World recently 🙂 We’ve  certainly made the most of it by spending lots of quality time outdoors and even I enjoyed a nice bit of fresh air and had at least an hour’s less catnapping time compared to normal 🙂

We’ve been making the most of our wonderful garden and I’ve been taking time out to appreciate all the lovely things the hoomins provide for us in there 😉

We have lots of platforms where we can chill out and watch the world go by…

Chillin’

And we can sometimes get a little carried away and go even higher by climbing on the roof!

Though of course Lula usually prefers to have a little snooze inside the house rather than on top of it 🙂

There’s things to keep us in tip top condition, like lots of scratchers

And we never go hungry as we can eat al fresco!

Yummy!

There’s lots of grasses for us to hide and play in

And Lula in particular adores the patches of catmint that are dotted around

Annie likes to be helpful on laundry day by making sure there’s nothing left behind in the wash basket when the hoomins are hanging out the washing

We haven’t had any snow for a long time, so the hoomins put this on one of our perches to make it look like there was some!

…. though they said it was to make it more comfy for us 😆

If we ever want to be extra comfy, we can of course keep an eye on our cat garden from inside mummy’s office 🙂

And we’re so excited about our new addition, which is still to be finished – our new waterfall!

But after all the hard work of enjoying the garden, the best thing to really do is chill out and maybe have a nice catnap or two 😉

I’m just hoping the weather stays nice for a few days so daddy can finish the waterfall and we can inspect his work and make sure it meets our standards 😆

Happy birthday Spot and Lula!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

As you may have seen on our Facebook page, my twin and I celebrated our 5th birthday yesterday! Yay! I had lots of nice chicken treats and some yummy tuna cat food for tea… though I get those most days so perhaps my mummy should have made a bit more of an effort on reflection 😯

As seems to be customary on these occasions, I’ve been looking through the archives to find some baby photos that my mummy said I had to share. I’m not sure I like it, but you know me – I’m a good boy and always does as I’m told *crosses paws behind back*  😆

So life started off at Sue the breeder’s house and after a few weeks our new owners – i.e. mummy and daddy – started to visit us quite regularly. We made sure we pulled off the cute look 🙂

Then after 15 weeks we went to our new home and soon settled in 🙂

Lula made herself at home on the kitchen table lol 🙂

And she also liked to have a good look around the bathtub

Whilst I stayed at home and helped mummy with her iPad (which were quite new out at the time) 🙂

Friday, Harry and Robbie came to tolerate us quite quickly (as long as we didn’t try and eat their dinner 😆 )

And after a nice dinner, what better thing is there to do than have a nice catnap? (some things never change 😆 )

Lazy Sunday! :)

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’m back after a little break – my mummy and daddy went off to some place called ‘Portugal’ so I wasn’t able to write my blog last week as the house sitter lady doesn’t know how to help me 🙁

I’m sure you didn’t miss us too much 🙂 though we’ve not really done a lot to report on since mummy and daddy returned, we’ve just been chillin’ out now the weather’s getting warmer and spending lots of time outdoors in our cat garden 🙂

I love to have a sleep in Lula’s new favourite place, the cat house 🙂 But I keep a close ear out for her….

Meanwhile, Spike was chillin’ out on the old cat house that daddy was doing some maintenance on, or trying to at least 😯

And Friday was having a nice sleep in mummy’s office 🙂

Annie also wanted to have a snooze in there, her favourite place at the moment seems to be Geoff the catnip Giraffe cushion 🙂

Let me in! 🙂

So Spike took advantage and decided to check out Annie’s favourite mouse in a ball toy 🙂

What’s all this about then?

But soon decided that he preferred the grass instead 🙂

When Annie met Spotty :)

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Oooh! We’re having some funny weather in our World at the moment: one minute the sun’s out and the next it’s pouring with rain!  My mummy told me it’s called ‘April showers’; I suppose I should remember them from last year but that was far too long ago 😯

I do remember, however, when the Peskies first came to live with us – can you believe they’re nearly two years old now?

That little Annie cat has not really left me alone since the day she came, she certainly loves her big brother! (Spike is her ‘little’ brother as he’s 10 hours younger than her 😆 )

So there I was the other day, making the most of that sunshine I told you about earlier, sitting minding my own business, when all of a sudden there she was, by my side!

Annie by my side

I pretended at first not to see her, but then she started to ask me lots of questions 😯

One thing she wanted to know about was the bamboo! So I showed her how to catch it!

This is how you catch it

Then you need to sniff it

Then you examine it a bit further to see if you can eat it or not

Hmmm… bet it doesn’t taste like a nice chicken treat

So that’s what you do with bamboo, I told her

Telling Annie that’s what you do with bamboo

I could tell that she was losing interest somewhat and seemed to be watching the birdies in the tree behind us!

So I decided to take a wash instead of talking to her

But then she pulled a funny face at me, thinking I’d not seen 😯

Annie’s funny face

So I decided to pretend that it was far more interesting to look at the wall of the house 🙂

That wall is very interesting!

And that was the end of our little meeting. Not long afterwards, the clouds came over and the rain poured down, so I went indoors for a nice catnap 🙂

Boys’ Day Out!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

It’s a little bit odd, I know, me writing my blog on a Monday, and I’ll be out with my days all week! 😆 It’s all because the cat show this week was on Sunday rather than Saturday 🙂  My mummy was much too tired to help me write my blog yesterday to tell you all about the show, so that’s why we’re writing it now 🙂

So we were up bright and early yesterday. Well, it was early at least, perhaps not so bright, seeing as it was in the middle of the night … 😯 Perhaps not quite the middle of the night but it was very early for me to have my sleep disturbed 😯

Mummy had decided to give Annie a little break from shows as she’s been to a few this year, so it was up to us boys – me and Spike – to go and show off our spots 🙂

So, Annie and the rest of them carried on snoozing whilst Spike and I got in the large carrier and were whisked away to the show.
We both had double pens and I settled in very quickly into my donut bed as I could tell I’d be able to have lots of nice catnaps in it 😉

Comfy!

Spike, on the other paw, liked to have a good look round his pen and make sure it was up to his standards!

So mummy had to fuss around him quite a lot – he’s very loud and insistent when he wants to be!

After a while, as it always does, the rest of the world caught up with us and others started to arrive and the hall soon filled up with cats of all breeds and colours.

And then the morning judging started where we’d be assessed for our Title and Best of Breed classes. This was a joint show so, although we’re both at the same level, we weren’t competing against each other as Spike was in one show and I was in a different one.

We were both going for our Imperial certificate, as we both still need 4 to achieve the title (we both have one each – we like to be consistent! 😆 )

The title class results took a little while to come out, but in the meantime the Best of Breed results were published! And what great news! I won Best of Breed in my show, though to be fair there was only one other boy up against me.

Spike was up against 3 other cats for his BoB, including my Aunt Fanny (Sue’s cat. He’s related to me on my mother’s side, and not related to Spike). Sue knew that the judge liked Fanny very much and Fanny is much more titled than either of us two so it would be a tough class….

But Spike won it! Yay! What a clever chap he is 🙂

Then we waited for our Imperial class results: Spike was up against 4 other cats in his, and I was up against 7 other cats in mine!

Again, a tough couple of classes, which sadly neither of us won. 🙁 Oh well. If it was any consolation, the boy who won Spike’s class also eventually won the Best in Show Foreign category, so it was no shame to be beaten by him.

Then we waited for the side classes…. mine weren’t all that great, to be honest 🙂 I was unplaced out of 5 in one, and 2nd out of 2 in the other. But at least I had lots of nice catnaps 🙂

Spike did a little better! He won one of his side classes (though he was the only one in it 😆 😆 ) and came 2nd out of 5 in the other, with the same boy beating him to 1st place.

Then, it was time to pack up so daddy put us both in the same pen whilst he tidied things up and mummy got on with packing up the stall.

The first thing Spike did was steal my nice bed!

Naughty Spike!

I wasn’t impressed by this 🙂

Not impressed

So I made him get up and look at my nice pink rosette (though he seemed much more interested in something else  🙂  )

And finally, we got home and had some nice dinner and some of my favourite chicken treats before getting into bed for a well-deserved snooze. In fact, I have no idea why my mummy was so tired after all; I had a very relaxing day! 😆

The next show is in a few weeks, which will be attended by Spike and Annie 🙂

Take care my friends!
