Lazy Weekend in our World!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Well, we have had no snow to report in our World which is most disappointing. Or at least Lula thinks it is anyway. Did you know that The Peskies (Annie and Spike) have never even seen proper snow? 😯 They saw a light covering last year, but as soon as it was here, it was gone again! I didn’t even get enough time to wake up from my nice catnap before it had disappeared 🙂

This has been an unusual weekend for us – no shows, nothing very exciting happening either. My daddy was still getting over the little bug he had in the week, so the hoomins hardly went out at all!

The Spike Pesky was very happy as this meant he spent lots of time with mummy in her office whilst she worked on things for the store and packing up the orders. Spike is very much a mummy’s boy because she gives him lots of cuddles and treats. I allowed my mummy to give me some cuddles and even a kiss or two today, seeing as it’s Mother’s Day here in the UK, but usually I draw the line at her giving me some nice treats and that’s it 😆 Unless I’m in a cuddly mood of course, which happens more than I care to admit 😀

Meanwhile, the rest of us pottered around really! Here’s some snapshots of our weekend 🙂

When Spike wasn’t smooching around in mummy’s office, he enjoyed a bit of birdie watching in the garden

Daddy put together the cat tree that Annie won for being Best in Show recently – it’s a purrfect fit!

Meanwhile, Friday was birdie watching from the Tigga Towers in the conservatory – a much more comfortable way of doing so!

Whilst, I had to share the top bunk with Harry (again…!) It’s not like there isn’t enough space, he always has to come and sit on me when I’m up there! *sigh* 😀

Robbie had the right idea and went up to the heated floor in the bathroom for his nap in the squidgy purple bed 🙂

Whilst Lula concentrated more on a bit of purrsonal hygiene in the old cat tree by the door 🙂

So another Monday is nearly upon us, and I wonder what this week will bring? I’m thinking some nice tuna and some of my favourite chicken treats would be a good start 🙂

Thoughtful Bengals?

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely and relaxing weekend. We’ve been a bit bored as the weather has not been kind… it’s been quite windy and wild! No snow, though, so Lula (and mummy) are not impressed by that! 😯

We did have bit of drama in the house, though, as something broke yesterday! 😯 I’m not exactly sure what it was, it was some kind of tank that’s hidden away in one of the cupboards we can’t get into… but what it meant was that a new one had to be bought! And in turn that meant a new box! And this was a BIG box! So my mummy cut a couple of holes out here and there… kitty heaven for hours! 🙂

Other than that, though, we’ve been quite quiet. We’ve not broken anything (other than the ornament that Annie broke the other day, but that was mummy’s fault for putting it in a silly place) and we’ve not done any other naughties (that we’ll admit to in public at least. My mummy and daddy read this, don’t you know?).

But it did get me thinking that us Bengals sometimes give the wrong impression to you hoomins. You think of us as naughty and loud and boisterous – yes? Well sometimes of course we are all of those things, but we also like to have our down time too and think of one of my mummy’s favourite poems:

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare….

So I’ve been searching through the archives and found some evidence of us doing just that!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’re all having a lovely Valentine’s Day! ♥ ♥ ♥

Instead of you all having to listen to me rambling on in today’s blog, I thought I’d do a photo blog, sharing some of our favourite pics of pairs! Pairs of us lot of course, to celebrate this romantic day 😉 Though not all of the pics are very romantic 😆 But they fitted the theme … kind of! 😯

First show of the year – and what a show it was!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

So, we went to our first show of 2016 yesterday and let’s hope the year carries on the way it started as we had a wonderful day! 🙂

Mind you, it did start off much too early – I was having a nice snooze with Lula in the big bed when I was rudely awoken in the middle of the night! 😯

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz…

I’d kind of guessed something was going on the previous day, though, the way the hoomins were fussing around, so I suppose I shouldn’t have been so surprised 😉

After lots more fussing around, Annie and I were put into our nice big carrier and transported up north somewhere, about 100 miles away. I’m not sure of the exact distance as I took the opportunity to get a few more cat naps in, snuggling with Annie instead of with Lula 😆

After an uneventful journey, we arrived at the venue and Annie and were checked by Sue the vet (and our breeder) with of course nothing to worry about – then it was into the show hall where I made sure my pen was up to my high standards!

Hmmm… it will do, I suppose!

I then checked my surroundings to make sure there were no unsavoury characters nearby 😉

All seems OK!

Annie then checked her pen over too!

You’re meant to be inside the pen, Annie

And she seemed to be fine with it, so that was that! It was then time for the morning judging to commence where they decide the important classes – the titles and Best of Breed!

My mummy and daddy had to leave us for this, but the results board was checked regularly I’m told. I was going for an Imperial Grand Premier Certificate, whereas Annie was in the top class – the Olympian! Luckily enough, both of our results got published quite quickly and my mummy and daddy were so proud! I had beaten two other wonderful boys (another Bengal and a Russian Blue) to win my certificate, and Annie had beaten 3 other girls to win the Olympian! I still need 4 more Imperial certificates to earn the title, whereas Annie needs 3 more to get to Olympian Bronze 🙂

Here’s her certificate 🙂

Annie’s Olympian Certificate

It then seemed to take a long time for the results for the other classes to be published…. but they were worth waiting for, in Annie’s case in particular! But first let me tell you how I did 🙂

I didn’t win Best of Breed, there were 4 in the class and the judge awarded it to a pretty girl 🙂 I then came 2nd out of 2 in a class for Bengals, Mau or Ocicats; 2nd out of 3 for “any cat not bred by exhibitor”; and – you’ve guessed it – 2nd out of 4 for “Any Foreign Neuter” 🙂 So I told my mummy I like to be consistent 🙂

Here I am with my rosettes and certificates (am enjoying a nice catnap you might notice 😉 You can never have too many cat naps) 🙂

Me and my awards 🙂

Annie was consistent too! Albeit at a slightly elevated level to me!

So, not only did she win the Olympian class, which is a massive achievement in itself, she then beat 4 boys to win “Best in Colour” (the equivalent of Best of Breed for the Household Pet section which she competes in). And then it was time for her side classes –

1st out of 2 for Any Shorthair Cat (Club Class). But the cat she beat is an absolute star of household pets (she is an Olympian Gold, and has been for some time, and regularly wins Best in Show), so this was fabulous!
1st out of 5 for “Prettiest Female” (my mummy says she always loves it when Annie wins this class)

And finally … she came 1st out of 7 for “The Cat with the Glossiest Coat”

Wow! She had what’s known as a “red card day” which means she won all of the classes she was entered into! And Annie’s results were from 4 different judges (one judge did two of her 5 classes), so it wasn’t based on just one judge having a soft spot for her! What a little star 🙂

Here she is with her certificates and rosettes 🙂

And another one, because she’s so cute 🙂

So there we have it! The show was quite late to finish as it had been such a busy day for everyone, but pretty soon we headed 100 miles or so back down south and came home and had some nice dinner and another nice catnap or two 🙂

Take care my friends!

Christmas Show News!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’m getting quite excited because I’ve been a very good cat all year long and I’m hoping for lots of presents from Santa 🙂 I think I need some nice chicken treats and maybe a comfy pink cushion all to myself so I don’t have to share with the littlest pesky, aka Annie 😆 I hope you get lots of nice gifts too 🙂

Talking of the Peskies, I could tell on Friday that it was time for them to go to another show by the way my mummy was cleaning them and trimming their claws and getting the show bag ready…. what I hadn’t anticipated was that I was going with them! 😯 I thought it was a bit odd that she trimmed my claws too and gave me a wash and brush up! 😯 This was to be my first show in more than 18 months, I wasn’t sure if I would remember what to do (i.e. be nice to the judges and not growl at them or, worse still, bite them 😆 )

My daddy has been a bit poorly, so she was taking us to the show on her own, although she did pick up a very nice young man called Lee on the way. I think she knew him as they seemed to talk a lot about the kind of things you hoomins talk about so I’m sure everything was above board 😆 Lee did remark (several times) on how good we all were travelling in the car as it was quite a long way to go – about a two and a half hour trip each way 🙂 But as I said before, I’m a very good boy and am easy to take anywhere 😉 … (are you listening, Santa? 😉 )

Anyways, we got to the show in plenty of time and mummy got our pens ready. Luckily, Spike and I were next door to each other, so that made things easier, though Annie was on the other side of the show hall. She gave us lots of cuddles, then went to check Annie, only to find that she had spilled her water all over her pen 😯 So she put her in with Spike whilst she sorted it all out and then waited for it to dry out 🙂 This made the cuddling job easier too as all three of us were therefore together 🙂

Pretty soon, though, Annie had to go back to her own pen as it was time for morning judging to start so mummy had to leave us and we were all on our best behaviour for the judges 🙂

Meanwhile, mummy checked the results board regularly to find out how we had done 🙂 Here are the overall results:

It wasn’t Annie’s day in terms of the main classes as she was up against 4 other cats for Olympian and didn’t get it, and up against two others for Best in Colour and didn’t get that either.

In her side classes, though, she came 3rd out of 6 for Prettiest Female; 2nd out of 3 for Any Shorthair under 3 years; and 1st out of 7 for The Cat with the Shiniest Coat! 🙂 So not too bad in the end 🙂

Spike and I were up against each other for the Imperial certificate and for Best of Breed. There were 5 good boys in total in the Imperial class and, by some stroke of luck, I was awarded the Reserve Imperial! (ie. second place) A nice Tonkinese won it 🙂
For Best of Breed, it was only us two as there were only 2 brown spotted Bengal Neuters there and Spike beat me! Harrumph! 😆

We were in different side classes:
I came nowhere out of 11 in the Visitor class; but 1st out of 6 in the AV British or Foreign Senior class! Yay!
Spike came 3rd out of 6 in the Any Variety Foreign class and 1st out of 2 in the Bengal Cat Club Any Neuter class! 🙂

So it was a pretty good day all round – not the best we’ve had but not the worst either 😉

Here are some pics which I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for lol 🙂

Hey mate, what’s that smell?

Soon, mummy had cleared away all our pens and off we all went, with Lee too, back on the long road up north 🙂 Again, we were all very good cats on the way home, though of course I was the best behaved and soon we were home to tell daddy all about our day 🙂

So that was the last show of 2015 and we now have a bit of a break until the next one in late January. I wonder who mummy will be taking to that one? 🙂

Take care my friends!

Brown Spotty Fun!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Phew! What a wild and windy few days we’ve had recently! There’s been quite a lot of flooding in the village next to ours, but thankfully we’re not affected and we could still get out into our cat garden today 🙂

Even I admit that it was good to get out in the fresh air and stretch our paws! I think Lula was in more of a restful mood, though, as she stayed indoors – so it was just us three brown spotty ones who braved the elements 🙂

It started off with just Spike who was sitting on the cat house, thinking about birdies….

Spike thinking about birdies

… When all of a sudden he heard a noise behind him!

What’s that noise?

He went to investigate and pretty soon came across the source of the noise – little Annie had just come into the garden!

Hello Annie!

And then I came in and found my mini-me right behind me 😉

Hello Annie!

Annie and Spike decided to play a game of who can jump the highest, so Annie jumped on top of one of the perches

Annie happy on her perch

But Spike said that was much too little, and jumped on top of the (closed up) washing line!

Annie said that was nothing and made him get off so she could go up there instead!

Spike got bored of that game so decided to hide in the bushes so he could try a sneaky pounce when Annie wasn’t looking!

But Annie was pretty wise to him and knew what he was up to

Meanwhile, I sat and watched the birdies

And then Spike decided it was time to go and explore the other corner on his own

Whilst Annie waited near the gate ready for daddy to take her indoors and give her some of MY favourite chicken treats 😆

And then it started to rain again so Spike and I went into my mummy’s office and covered her sofa in muddy paw prints 😉

The Adventures of a Cat Called Lula

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Wow! We had a bit of excitement in our World today – or at least Lula did! 😆 The hoomins weren’t able to capture it all on camera as it happened so quickly, so we’re going to use some of our archived pics to tell the tail…..

So Lula was sitting inside where it was all nice and warm and cosy – just purrfect for a catnap. When – for some reason known only to her – she decided she wanted to go outside! 😯 So she looked longingly outside and miaowed at mummy very loudly until she got the hint and took her out!

Looking longingly outside

Once outside, Lula was chillin’ on the deck of mummy’s office, wondering where all the juicy bugs have gone, when she thought she heard a noise!

Lula looking for bugs

She crept into the garden and got down low so she would not be seen so easily

And then all of a sudden, she saw the reason for the noise! 😯 😯 It was coming from a big marbled tabby cat who had somehow got into the cat garden, but who couldn’t get out again!

Big Marbled Tabby Cat (not actual one in garden)
Big Marbled Tabby Cat
(not actual one in garden)

So Lula decided to chase the cat around as she was not happy he was in her garden! Round and round they went very quickly with the Big Marbled Tabby Cat trying (unsuccessfully) to get over the fence with a snowy spotty Bengal cat on its tail!

This was different to the times when Lula chases after Spike as that’s all play

Lula contemplating chasing Spike

This was serious! My mummy saw what was going on but couldn’t catch either cat! What were we to do? My mummy couldn’t open the gate for the Big Marbled Tabby Cat to get out as Lula would no doubt be following hot on his tail, so it really was a bit of a conundrum 😯 But one thing was known, this couldn’t go on forever, the Big Marbled Tabby Cat seemed to be very well looked after and would no doubt have hoomins at home wondering where he was!

Eventually, it all calmed down a bit and Lula went and hid in the garage. Mummy tried to get her out so she could put her back inside, but she wasn’t having any of it… so mummy had to take a bit of a gamble – she opened the gate to let the Big Marbled Tabby Cat out and just hope that Lula didn’t come out of hiding and chase after him!

This plan was soon successful and the drama was over. Lula came out of the garage and went up high on her cat tower to check that the coast was clear.

Checking the coast is clear

After a while, she was happy all was well so went in her hammock for a nice nap…

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz…

… and dreamt of when she was a showgirl strutting her stuff 🙂

And while all that was going on, us three brown spotties along with the moggies, were all tucked up inside in the warmth dreaming of chicken treats (at least I was) and completely oblivious to all the excitement outside! 😆

Let’s do the timewarp!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Phew! What terrible weather we’re having in our World recently! It’s been so bad, I’ve been forced to stay indoors a lot of the time and have lots of catnaps 😉

We therefore don’t have many tails to share this week, so we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane to November 2014!

We started off by going to one of our favourite shows – the Bengal Cat Club show which we also went to last week and I wrote about in my previous post 😉

Last year, Spike did very well, coming first and winning Best of Breed 🙂

Spike
Clever Boy

But Annie did even better, winning first place, Best in Class, Best in Show Pedigree Pet and then Overall Best in Show Household Pet!

Of course, we also spent time in our cat garden as the weather seemed so much better than it does this year!

I never managed to quite get away from those peskies…

We were all still quite curious about mummy’s office, as it had only recently been finished

Spike meanwhile continued to show off his laid back skills

And then, at the end of the month, Annie and Spike went to our other favourite show, The Supreme! It was held later than it was this year and again both did very well with them both getting first place and best of breed in their respective classes

But at the end of the day, what we all really enjoy most is a nice catnap, and we found a lovely spot in mummy’s new office where we could all indulge together! 😆

Our weekend

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’re all well?

I don’t have anything much to report for you this weekend: after all the excitement of The Supreme last Caturday (see previous blog post) and all the excitement we’re looking forward to for next weekend (The Bengal Cat Club Show), I couldn’t decide if this weekend was the lull before the storm or the anti-climax after the biggest cat show of the year! 🙂

The weather in our World doesn’t really know what to do either: for November, it’s very mild, but it has also been quite foggy and therefore quite damp too. I don’t like soggy paws so at least I have my hoomins trained now to let me outside for only a little while to survey my territory in the cat garden in the morning, but then it’s not too long till I’m brought back inside again where I can choose so many different places for a nice catnap 🙂

So I thought it might be a nice idea to look back at brighter times (meteorologically speaking) and share some pics from the summer with you! 🙂

First of all, here’s Spikey showing off his gorgeous coat 🙂

More Whoopsies!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

We’ve had a glorious weekend in our World! The last little bit of the warmer weather is hanging on by its claws 🙂 So we’ve been making the most of it outside in our cat garden 🙂 We hope you have had a lovely weekend too?

My hoomins have been very busy, though, so they’ve not had much chance to take many pics of us today, so I though it would be fun to share with you some more of our pics that should never be published! Lol 🙂 My mummy would be quite annoyed if she found out I was showing off all her bad photography, so don’t tell her will you? Our little secret lol 🙂

So the first lesson for my mummy is that it’s usually a good idea to get the whole cat in the pic…

I do have legs too, you know…

But I suppose at least she managed to get my face in that pic… she quite often doesn’t even manage that! 😯

Hmmm.. Is that meant to be a pic of Spike?

And again! (I said it was quite often, though she blames it on US! Saying we never sit still – how rude!)

No cats in the shot this time!

Of course, there are times we just don’t want our photo to be taken

Annie refuses to look at the camera! 🙂

Sometimes you can see the whole cat, but we insist on pulling a funny face… just because we can 😉

Lula pulling a face at a petal 🙂

Or sometimes we like to cover up our face with a handy branch!

Lula says that was a handy branch!

On other occasions, mummy takes the pic just at the wrong time

I’m not really beating up Annie… honest!

And sometimes she takes a lovely pic! (if only it was in focus!)

And on that note…. you’ve guessed it! I think it’s about time I had a nice catnap 🙂

Take care my friends!
