Seven Tips for Great Pics!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hello!

I thought we’d have a little look today at what makes great cat photos and share with you top tips that anyone can adopt for taking them! You probably realise by now that I get lots of photos taken of me by my daddy and sometimes my mummy πŸ˜† So I think I’ve learned a little bit about what it takes!

1. Get something pretty in the photo next to your cat

Bengal Cat Blog Photo

2. Β Take advantage of a quiet moment

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Robbie watching the world go by

3. Better still – taking advantage of a cat-napping moment!

Zzzzzz…..

4. Use their favourite toys to get their attention!

Lula will catch those feathers!

5. Get an accomplice (preferably another cat) to distract their attention – and snap away!

6. The more cats in a photo, the better!

Hear no evil…..

7. And finally… Make sure you have your camera ready at all times to capture those unexpected silly moments!

I have a thing about seeing if my toys work as a hat!

What do you think? Any of these helpful? Do you have any top tips of your own you’d like to share?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Β

My mummy has gone all soppy…. it’s quite normal for her to be always trying to kiss and cuddle us, but today it’s worse than ever! She says it’s a day for love! If that’s the case, I think she should give me more of what I love – my favourite chicken treats! πŸ˜†

We’re running a very exciting Valentine competition on our Facebook page about cats showing love, with the winner being announced very soon! So we thought it would be appropriate to dedicate my blog today to our favourite pics of us Bengal Cat World cats showing some love….

I love cuddling with Robbie! And I also love sitting on the squashy down bit of the sofa – so what could be better than combining the two?

Bengal Cat Blog Photo

I also do the same with Harry! πŸ™‚

More lovely cuddling, this time with Friday πŸ™‚

I love my daddy too! Especially when he has my favourite chicken treats in his hand!

Bengal Cat Blog photo
Hello daddy!

Lula loved this dragonfly… before she broke it! πŸ™‚

Hello dragonfly!

She also loves digging in the plant pots, she doesn’t mind that her snow white paws will get filthy! She doesn’t have to clean the floors after all!

But at the end of the day, there’s nothing we love more than a nice long catnap together…..

I hope you’re all having or have had a lovely Valentine’s Day that’s been filled with love and joy!

You’ve met our furry prawn… Here’s the squiggly snake!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hello, Audrey Heprawn!

I think a lot of you will have met Audrey Heprawn by now but in case you haven’t, she’s the furry prawn toy in the photo! She’s become quite a star on our Facebook page, so much so that we recently had a competition to name her! We were quite sad when she went missing for a day or so earlier on in the week, but luckily she turned up, safe and sound πŸ˜‰ She’s played with every day, usually by Robbie who loves her πŸ˜€

But of course, we have more than one toy, as I’m sure you can all identify with! How many toys does your cat have? We have our own toy box, filled with toys though a lot of them aren’t played with very often πŸ˜€ Us cats can be a bit fickle, can’t we? A good tip for re-energising your toys is to get some catnip! If you have it in spray form, you can spray the toy, or if you have it in dried leaf form, put a generous amount in a little bag and then put the toy in there too, hold it at the top so no catnip can come out and give it a good shake for a while! Then give to your cats and their previously-ignored toy should come back into favour! πŸ™‚

But I expect you’re wondering about the squiggly snake, aren’t you? After all, it does feature in the title of this post! We got our as-yet-unnamed squiggly snake last week and we love it! It’s actually honeysuckle and catnip! Believe it or not, anecdotal evidence would suggest that there are more cats who react to a certain type of honeysuckle than there are who react to catnip!
So here’s some photos to show you how much we’ve enjoyed playing with our squiggly snake! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Mmmm… this smells quite good!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Ooh! It is quite squiggly!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Does it work as a hat?… Perhaps not πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Friday won!

We love it when we get a new toy! Mummy’s putting this one away in the drawer though, and only bringing it out now and again so we don’t get bored of it! What toys do your cats like?

Take care my friends!

Clever climbing cats!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’re all well – I’m happy because we’re getting closer to Caturday!

I thought I’d share some photos of all of us Bengal Cat World cats today! πŸ™‚ In case you don’t know, us two Bengals live with three domestic shorthair cats – Robbie, Harry and Friday! Together we all make up our mummy’s and daddy’s World!

So I was wondering if there’s a common theme (other than food and yummy chicken cat treats) that we all enjoy…. and I decided to focus on climbing! It wasn’t difficult to find a few recent pics, and some from the archives too of us all off the ground in one form or another πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy them!

Bye bye 2012!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Happy New Year!

I hope you’re all feeling OK after all the celebrations and parties that you must have had recently! πŸ™‚ I can’t believe we’re starting a new year all over again – I had such great fun in 2012, let’s hope 2013 is just as good – if not even better! πŸ™‚

I couldn’t let 2012 quite go, though, without one last look at some more of my favourite photos from the year! As I was looking through them for my review of 2012, there were lots that I didn’t have the space to share, so I hope you enjoy this last trip down 2012’s memory lane with me!

Review of 2012, Part Four: October – December

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Here’s me as a little baby! πŸ™‚

Welcome to the fourth and final part of my review of 2012! I’ll be sharing some more cute kitten photos later on in this post! But first of all, let’s go back to October and share some memories of what happened then….

OCTOBER

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hi there!
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Keeping warm
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
1st Imperial Grand Premier certificate!

In early October, daddy took some of my most favourite-ever photos of Lula – she looks like such a sweet girl I think πŸ™‚

But of course, we all know that looks can be deceptive and she has her naughty streak underneath all that innocence πŸ™‚

The nights were starting to get much cooler, so Lula and I went back to sleeping in our big dog bed that mummy and daddy had bought us back in January – it’s so warm and cosy when we cuddle up together in there πŸ™‚

We both went to a show in October – the Tabby Cat Club show. This was actually a bit of a milestone as it was the very first cat show mummy went to as an exhibitor just 12 short months earlier!

She had taken Lula there to see whether or not they would both enjoy it (I went to another one at end of October 2011 for the same reason and I won Best Kitten in Show!)

We had fantastic results at the 2012 show! Lula got her first Imperial Grand Premier certificate and Best of Breed. I got Reserve Grand Premier, Β my granddad Sabu beat me, but then I beat him to win Best of Breed!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Chillin’ on the squishy-down bit of the sofa :

My daddy had his camera just in the right place at the right time for this shot and managed to capture a great image of me chilling out on the squashy-down bit of the sofa πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Close-up!

Then, my mummy managed to get a close up of me having a wash and showing off all the rough bits of my tongue! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Rooooaaaaarrrr!

October drew to a close and with it came Hallowe’en! Here I am trying to do my scary Hallowe’en roar! Are you frightened?

NOVEMBER

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
In amongst the grasses

We still managed to spend time in our cat garden in November, even though winter was definitely on its way!

I love nibbling on all the different grasses daddy has planted for us! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hey! Do you come here often? πŸ™‚

When the ground gets too wet or too cold with frost, we can sit on the roof of our cat house so our paws are kept dry and warm πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I have a great view up here!

Daddy let Lula have a special treat! A supervised climb up the oak tree in the main garden – remember, this used to be her favourite tree when we had more freedom πŸ˜‰

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Do you like my rosettes?

I went to the Cheshire Area Cat Club show in early November. I got a Reserve Grand certificate again, but the boy who beat me really is a lovely Bengal! But then, I managed to beat him, and two other boys, to win Best of Breed! Β This can happen because it’s a different judge judging the BoB than the certificates πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Oooh look! A bug!

Despite it being November, Lula still managed to find bugs to chase and pounce on!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
So snuggly

Meanwhile, I much prefer the nice weather, so when it’s cold there’s nothing better than my snuggly bed πŸ˜‰

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I love my decorated pen!

The biggest cat show in the cat show calendar took place in November – the Supreme!

Lula went to this one and here you can see her in her decorated pen which is something different to the usual shows we go to πŸ™‚

She did extremely well – she won her second Imperial Grand Premier certificate… you need five of these from different judges to earn the title, so it was good to get another under Lula’s belt πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Our cat-mummy and half brothers and sisters

Not long after the Supreme, my mummy and daddy went to our Breeder’s house to take some photos there.

This is our cat-mummy, Pandora, and her litter of four, these are our half-brothers and sisters as they have a different cat daddy πŸ™‚

Very cute I think πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Cutie!

There was also another litter that daddy took photos of, there are six in this litter, this stunning little girl is going to be kept by our breeder πŸ™‚ You can also see two more kittens in the background πŸ™‚

DECEMBER

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Is it still winter?

December came, and along with the rain, we also had quite a frosty spell! Guess where I was……?? πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I’m a clever girl! πŸ™‚
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Zzzzzzzz…….

As usual, Lula didn’t mind the weather and spent as much time as she could in our cat garden!

We went to our final show of the year – you may not be surprised to learn that Lula got her third Imperial Grand Premier certificate and Best of Breed, she is so clever πŸ™‚

I came first in my breed class, out of 4, but the judge didn’t award me my Grand Premier certificate as he said my “type” was very good, but that my fur was too long πŸ™

Once home again, the other cats, except Robbie, finally realised how great our squishy bed is!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
ZzZzzZzzzzZZzzzz….

Robbie decided that the new cat bed mummy and daddy had bought at the Supreme cat show was much more his thing! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Happy Christmas!
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Happy Christmas again!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Happy New Year from all of us! xxxxx

Of course, December means it’s Christmas time, and we loved playing and posing for photos! πŸ™‚

Lula even managed to get her face into my pic! πŸ™‚

*** I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas / holiday period! πŸ™‚ ***

But all good things must come to an end, and as 2012 draws to a close, all that’s left for all of us Bengal Cat World cats to do is to wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yay! xxxxx

So that completes our review of our year! Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there are any of your favourite photos I have missed off! There are so many lovely pics, it really was very hard to choose the few to feature in these blog posts!

Take lots of care my friends, and I hope you all have a wonderful 2013!

Review of 2012, Part Two: April – June

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Aahhh! I love the sun on my face!

I hope you enjoyed reading the first part of our 2012 review πŸ™‚ As promised, here’s part two which covers April to June πŸ™‚

APRIL

Bengal cat blog photo
Getting ready to catch that fly!

April brought lovely weather for the UK! It’s normally known as being the month of rain showers, but instead we had lots of sunshine (though weirdly we also had a day or two of snow earlier in the month!).

Lula made the most of the good weather by engaging in one of her favourite hobbies, chasing bugs and flies! Here she is eyeing up a tasty morsel πŸ™‚

Bengal cat blog photo
Robbie also loves to stalk!

The great weather brought out Robbie’s stalking skills too – I love this photo of him and the cheeky glint in his eye! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hey there! I’m not afraid of you!

Meanwhile, I enjoyed teasing the cows in the field behind our house! It’s a good job I can run quickly! πŸ™‚

Bengal cat blog photo
Oooh! My sister is scarier than the cows!

Lula and I had fun in the netting that daddy had put over the new grass seed to protect it! He wasn’t very happy when he caught us doing this with it!

We didn’t go to any cat shows in April, there just weren’t any suitable or close enough to us πŸ™‚

MAY

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Out in the plains….

So May arrived and we still enjoyed the freedom of the big field… here we are watching the world go by….

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Hee-ya!

We loved to play in the field and would spend hours chasing each other around πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Reflecting….

But sometimes, I would have a quiet moment and reflect a little……

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Where’s those bugs?

…… while Lula carried on her search for those elusive bugs! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I love this stinky sardine!

We went to one cat show in May – the Midland Counties show. Β I didn’t do very well there, I came second in my breed class πŸ™ Lula came first in hers though, and won her second Premier Certificate. She was beaten to Best of Breed by our older brother, Star !

Overall, it wasn’t a great show day, but we don’t expect glittering success at every show, so it wasn’t a problem πŸ˜‰

JUNE

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Look at all my first places!
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Gotcha!
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Sitting on the windowsill

Early in June, we had another cat show to go to – this time it was the Merseyside Cat Club show! Lula did fantastically well, coming first in all of her classes, so she had a “red card day” – I think you can see from this photo why it’s called that?

She also got her third Premier Certificate, so this meant she’d earned enough to be able to claim the title of Premier cat! πŸ™‚

I didn’t do so well, unfortunately πŸ™ I was a bit grumpy on the day and I came second in my breed class, though I did win one of my side classes πŸ™‚

Back home, and Lula was back to her favourite hobby – you guessed it – chasing bugs! Can you see the one that got away in this pic? πŸ™‚

Friday enjoyed sunning herself on the windowsill – she likes the warm weather now she is getting a bit older πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Keeping a look out
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
So much to see by the pond
Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I don’t like having a bath!

Our Harry cat likes to keep an eye on the territory from the patio – he helps out if any other cats come into our garden and chases them away!

I was loving the amount of greenery around the pond, it meant there were lots of places to hide πŸ™‚

But then – Oooooops! One day mummy came home from work and almost didn’t recognise me and Lula! We were not looking like Bengals at all! We were all black!!

Then mummy noticed all the cream carpets were black too…. and then some feathers by the side of the chimney!!

Yes, you guessed it! We’d both been up the chimney while our hoomins were out, chasing a birdie! It took TWO baths to get us clean-ish, but even then we still had soot residue in our fur…

Needless to say, the fireplace has been blocked up ever since then… Funny! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Cat burglar!

After trying out her skills, not very successfully I might add, as a chimney sweep, Lula decided that perhaps she ought to turn her attentions to cat burgling!

But she was caught in the act! πŸ˜€

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
I’m going to catch this birdie!

I found a new friend to play with! This is one birdie I can catch! As long as he gets close enough that is! πŸ™‚

Bengal Cat Blog Photo
Coming home

Finally, at the end of a long day of play, it’s good to come home to a nice dinner and a little cat nap in one of our favourite beds πŸ™‚

Wow! Quite a lot happened there in part two! Watch out for part three – coming to a computer screen near you very soon! πŸ™‚

Take care my friends,

Merry Christmas to all our friends!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Merry-Christmas

I hope you’re all enjoying the holiday season and you are all safe and well πŸ™‚ I am so excited because this is only my second Christmas and I was quite young last time, so I didn’t really understand what was going on! This year, I’m much better prepared and of course have lots of friends like you to help me celebrate too! πŸ™‚

Here’s some festive photos I thought I’d share with you!

Summer photos!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

As you may already know, I’m really looking forward to seeing some snow this winter…. I saw a little bit earlier this year, but I was too scared to go out in it! Β But I’m determined not to be so silly in future – I think Lula and I could play some good games in the snow in our cat garden πŸ™‚

But having said that, I’m not really happy about the weather we’re having at the moment – we’re getting all the cold you need for snow, but no actual snow to play in! So I was sitting with my mummy just now and we’ve been looking at some photos of us taken a few months ago when it was warmer. Β Then we realised we’d not shared these with you before, so here’s some of our favourites which I hope you enjoy looking at πŸ™‚
