I thought we’d have a little look today at what makes great cat photos and share with you top tips that anyone can adopt for taking them! You probably realise by now that I get lots of photos taken of me by my daddy and sometimes my mummy 😆 So I think I’ve learned a little bit about what it takes!

 

1. Get something pretty in the photo next to your cat

 

2.  Take advantage of a quiet moment

 

3. Better still – taking advantage of a cat-napping moment!

 

4. Use their favourite toys to get their attention!

 

5. Get an accomplice (preferably another cat) to distract their attention – and snap away!

 

6. The more cats in a photo, the better!

 

7. And finally… Make sure you have your camera ready at all times to capture those unexpected silly moments!

Happy New Year!

 

I hope you’re all feeling OK after all the celebrations and parties that you must have had recently! 🙂 I can’t believe we’re starting a new year all over again – I had such great fun in 2012, let’s hope 2013 is just as good – if not even better! 🙂

 

I couldn’t let 2012 quite go, though, without one last look at some more of my favourite photos from the year! As I was looking through them for my review of 2012, there were lots that I didn’t have the space to share, so I hope you enjoy this last trip down 2012’s memory lane with me!

 

 

 

 

And finally…. one of my all-time favourite photos! This won a photography competition a few months ago, my daddy caught the moment spot-on I think!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

 

 

Welcome to the fourth and final part of my review of 2012! I’ll be sharing some more cute kitten photos later on in this post! But first of all, let’s go back to October and share some memories of what happened then….

 

OCTOBER

 

 

 

 

 

In early October, daddy took some of my most favourite-ever photos of Lula – she looks like such a sweet girl I think 🙂

 

But of course, we all know that looks can be deceptive and she has her naughty streak underneath all that innocence 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The nights were starting to get much cooler, so Lula and I went back to sleeping in our big dog bed that mummy and daddy had bought us back in January – it’s so warm and cosy when we cuddle up together in there 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We both went to a show in October – the Tabby Cat Club show. This was actually a bit of a milestone as it was the very first cat show mummy went to as an exhibitor just 12 short months earlier!

 

She had taken Lula there to see whether or not they would both enjoy it (I went to another one at end of October 2011 for the same reason and I won Best Kitten in Show!)

 

We had fantastic results at the 2012 show! Lula got her first Imperial Grand Premier certificate and Best of Breed. I got Reserve Grand Premier,  my granddad Sabu beat me, but then I beat him to win Best of Breed!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My daddy had his camera just in the right place at the right time for this shot and managed to capture a great image of me chilling out on the squashy-down bit of the sofa 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then, my mummy managed to get a close up of me having a wash and showing off all the rough bits of my tongue! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

October drew to a close and with it came Hallowe’en! Here I am trying to do my scary Hallowe’en roar! Are you frightened?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

NOVEMBER

 

 

 

 

 

 

We still managed to spend time in our cat garden in November, even though winter was definitely on its way!

 

I love nibbling on all the different grasses daddy has planted for us! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When the ground gets too wet or too cold with frost, we can sit on the roof of our cat house so our paws are kept dry and warm 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Daddy let Lula have a special treat! A supervised climb up the oak tree in the main garden – remember, this used to be her favourite tree when we had more freedom 😉

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I went to the Cheshire Area Cat Club show in early November. I got a Reserve Grand certificate again, but the boy who beat me really is a lovely Bengal! But then, I managed to beat him, and two other boys, to win Best of Breed!  This can happen because it’s a different judge judging the BoB than the certificates 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Despite it being November, Lula still managed to find bugs to chase and pounce on!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile, I much prefer the nice weather, so when it’s cold there’s nothing better than my snuggly bed 😉

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The biggest cat show in the cat show calendar took place in November – the Supreme!

 

Lula went to this one and here you can see her in her decorated pen which is something different to the usual shows we go to 🙂

 

She did extremely well – she won her second Imperial Grand Premier certificate… you need five of these from different judges to earn the title, so it was good to get another under Lula’s belt 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not long after the Supreme, my mummy and daddy went to our Breeder’s house to take some photos there.

 

This is our cat-mummy, Pandora, and her litter of four, these are our half-brothers and sisters as they have a different cat daddy 🙂

 

Very cute I think 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There was also another litter that daddy took photos of, there are six in this litter, this stunning little girl is going to be kept by our breeder 🙂 You can also see two more kittens in the background 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DECEMBER

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

December came, and along with the rain, we also had quite a frosty spell! Guess where I was……?? 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As usual, Lula didn’t mind the weather and spent as much time as she could in our cat garden!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We went to our final show of the year – you may not be surprised to learn that Lula got her third Imperial Grand Premier certificate and Best of Breed, she is so clever 🙂

 

I came first in my breed class, out of 4, but the judge didn’t award me my Grand Premier certificate as he said my “type” was very good, but that my fur was too long 🙁

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once home again, the other cats, except Robbie, finally realised how great our squishy bed is!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Robbie decided that the new cat bed mummy and daddy had bought at the Supreme cat show was much more his thing! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Of course, December means it’s Christmas time, and we loved playing and posing for photos! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lula even managed to get her face into my pic! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed reading the first part of our 2012 review 🙂 As promised, here’s part two which covers April to June 🙂

 

APRIL

 

 

 

 

 

 

April brought lovely weather for the UK! It’s normally known as being the month of rain showers, but instead we had lots of sunshine (though weirdly we also had a day or two of snow earlier in the month!).

Lula made the most of the good weather by engaging in one of her favourite hobbies, chasing bugs and flies! Here she is eyeing up a tasty morsel 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The great weather brought out Robbie’s stalking skills too – I love this photo of him and the cheeky glint in his eye! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile, I enjoyed teasing the cows in the field behind our house! It’s a good job I can run quickly! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lula and I had fun in the netting that daddy had put over the new grass seed to protect it! He wasn’t very happy when he caught us doing this with it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We didn’t go to any cat shows in April, there just weren’t any suitable or close enough to us 🙂

 

MAY

 

 

 

 

 

So May arrived and we still enjoyed the freedom of the big field… here we are watching the world go by….

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We loved to play in the field and would spend hours chasing each other around 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But sometimes, I would have a quiet moment and reflect a little……

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

…… while Lula carried on her search for those elusive bugs! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We went to one cat show in May – the Midland Counties show.  I didn’t do very well there, I came second in my breed class 🙁 Lula came first in hers though, and won her second Premier Certificate. She was beaten to Best of Breed by our older brother, Star !

 

Overall, it wasn’t a great show day, but we don’t expect glittering success at every show, so it wasn’t a problem 😉

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JUNE

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Early in June, we had another cat show to go to – this time it was the Merseyside Cat Club show! Lula did fantastically well, coming first in all of her classes, so she had a “red card day” – I think you can see from this photo why it’s called that?

 

She also got her third Premier Certificate, so this meant she’d earned enough to be able to claim the title of Premier cat! 🙂

 

I didn’t do so well, unfortunately 🙁 I was a bit grumpy on the day and I came second in my breed class, though I did win one of my side classes 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back home, and Lula was back to her favourite hobby – you guessed it – chasing bugs! Can you see the one that got away in this pic? 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday enjoyed sunning herself on the windowsill – she likes the warm weather now she is getting a bit older 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our Harry cat likes to keep an eye on the territory from the patio – he helps out if any other cats come into our garden and chases them away!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was loving the amount of greenery around the pond, it meant there were lots of places to hide 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But then – Oooooops! One day mummy came home from work and almost didn’t recognise me and Lula! We were not looking like Bengals at all! We were all black!!

 

Then mummy noticed all the cream carpets were black too…. and then some feathers by the side of the chimney!!

 

Yes, you guessed it! We’d both been up the chimney while our hoomins were out, chasing a birdie! It took TWO baths to get us clean-ish, but even then we still had soot residue in our fur…

 

Needless to say, the fireplace has been blocked up ever since then… Funny! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After trying out her skills, not very successfully I might add, as a chimney sweep, Lula decided that perhaps she ought to turn her attentions to cat burgling!

 

But she was caught in the act! 😀

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I found a new friend to play with! This is one birdie I can catch! As long as he gets close enough that is! 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally, at the end of a long day of play, it’s good to come home to a nice dinner and a little cat nap in one of our favourite beds 🙂

Hello my friends, Spot here!

 

As you may already know, I’m really looking forward to seeing some snow this winter…. I saw a little bit earlier this year, but I was too scared to go out in it!  But I’m determined not to be so silly in future – I think Lula and I could play some good games in the snow in our cat garden 🙂

 

But having said that, I’m not really happy about the weather we’re having at the moment – we’re getting all the cold you need for snow, but no actual snow to play in! So I was sitting with my mummy just now and we’ve been looking at some photos of us taken a few months ago when it was warmer.  Then we realised we’d not shared these with you before, so here’s some of our favourites which I hope you enjoy looking at 🙂
