It’s time for a change!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Oooh! We’re not liking all this miserable weather we’re having in our World! Such a difference to last week 🙂 You may have seen on our Facebook page that when I get fed up, I also get a little naughty! 🙂 But I’m not the only one as Harry and Robbie have been up to some tricks too, it’s just that they never get caught! Our Friday cat said she’s much too mature for such shenanigans, and decided to have a sleep on my favourite pink cushion instead 😉

But along with being naughty, we decided to try some new experiences too, just to confuse our hoomins! 🙂 Of course, you will know that Harry, Robbie and Friday are allowed in the big garden….

So what’s wrong with this pic? I was trying to disguise myself as Harry, but I don’t think I’m fooling anyone? 🙂

Hey! You’re not Harry!

But then – worse than all of that – Robbie had the cheek to come into my territory! 😯 Doesn’t he know that’s not allowed? 🙂

You’re not supposed to be in here 😉

But I decided to be generous and let him stay for a while – after all, it is a great place to hang out and we’ll need to share with Annie when she joins us and is old enough to go outside 🙂 I might as well get used to sharing now, don’t you think?

Take care my friends!

So many cat trees!

~ This post is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend, Linda Carlisle Jenson. We were deeply saddened to learn of her unexpected passing. ~
~ Rest in peace, Linda ~

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Our weather still continues to be a bit naughty, most days are still quite windy and rainy – we hope that Spring will be here soon! But we were thinking that we are such lucky cats because even when the weather is bad, we still have so many wonderful places to hang out!

First of all, there is the very first cat tree that my mummy and daddy ever bought – long before any of us five were even born! It did have another bit on the top, but that has long since disappeared, it still makes a great place for us to sit on and either sleep or watch the world go by outside though!

Two tiers for double sleeping!

Or, we can fit on the top together! (at a push!)

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz…

Then, when we want something a little bigger, the second cat tree they bought is now also in the conservatory so it makes a great place to scratch on, play on, sleep on and of course watch the outside world on! It too has missing bits, but we don’t mind 🙂

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz… x 2! 🙂

I think there’s quite a lot of sleeping going on around here! 🙂

But of course, for ultimate luxury, nothing beats our new Tigga Towers tree! It’s so comfy and there are lots of different places to chill out in or on!

Robbie likes the platform with the squidgy bit in the middle!

I quite like the hammock!

Friday likes the squidgy platform too!

Lula can look down on the world from the igloo!

And of course, when the weather gets a bit nicer, we also have lots of places in our cat garden to sit on!

As I said at the beginning, I think we are very lucky cats indeed! 🙂

Take lots of care, my friends!

What a lovely surprise!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Wow! Our mummy and daddy are good to us kitties! You might remember in a recent blog, I said that my mummy came home one day with lots of packages – we weren’t allowed to look at them because they were a surprise … Well, I can tell you, it was worth the wait because what a wonderful surprise it was! We got a brand new, top quality cat tree!

It’s from Tigga Towers – the very best quality cat trees you can buy! You might know that we had quite a nice cat tree already….

Our old cat tree

But if you look closely, it’s starting to wear out a bit – connecting parts are broken so some of the platforms aren’t on it and the carpet is getting quite threadbare in places…

A bit worn out

So when that tree was moved and a new, solid oak base put in its place, we were quite curious!

Oooh! What’s this?

Then a few more bits appeared…

Hmmm… this is getting interesting 🙂

And some gorgeous, squishy cushions and wonderful wicker baskets soon came out of the hiding place…

Such squidgines!

And – even more exciting – this was followed by some squidgy catnip toys too! They think of everything, don’t they?

Tigga Toys!

While we’d been busy inspecting all of these, my Daddy had been busy building the tree – it didn’t take long at all! But we said to him it looked odd with a hole in the platform – they must have bought a faulty item and should ask for a refund! 😯

Oooh! There’s a hole in that platform!

But when the gorgeous squishy cover went on it, it was soon clear it was designed like that for a very good reason – our ultimate comfort! Which Friday immediately realised to be the case (she might be getting on in years, but she’s not stupid) – and she soon made herself comfortable, despite the fact the tree was still being built! 🙂

Hey Friday! You need to wait until it’s finished!

But it didn’t take many more minutes for my Daddy to finish it off and pretty soon Robbie had joined Friday to check it out!

Hello Friday!

Lula decided to check out the igloo at the top – she likes to be up high!

And it wasn’t long before I joined them!

Hello everyone!

We love our new tree! Such quality that will last for years and won’t get threadbare like our old one – yay!

What do you think of it, my friends?

Take care,

Happy New Year!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful festive few days! We’ve had a lovely time – lots of treats and yummy food and of course we’ve done quite a lot of cat napping too! The one thing we haven’t done much of recently is be naughty…. Hmmmm… I think we’ll need to address that in 2014 and see what new things we can think up! 🙂

We had an extra special treat yesterday because we had a huge box delivered! Inside was a large bag of cat litter (quite boring that bit) and a few boxes of my favourite chicken treats! 🙂 Now, I love all treats but these ones are my extra special favourite ones and we were running a bit low so I was getting quite concerned that my mummy had forgotten to order some! 🙂

But aside from the yummy treats, the next best bit was of course the box they all came in! It was so big, there was room for both me and Lula to be in it at the same time and Robbie came over to check it out too!

Lula was first on the scene

Look what I’ve found! 🙂

So I soon joined her – I never want to miss out on anything and of course I made her get out of the box so I could sit inside it 😆

This is quite a good find, Lula!

Then Robbie came by too!

Come and join us in the box, Robbie!

But Lula seemed to get bored quite soon and, under the watchful eye of Robbie, decided that there was something much more interesting to sniff!

What are you doing, Lula?

She decided the cat litter wasn’t so boring after all…

Hey! This bag is quite fun!

… and thought she would try and spill the cat litter all over the floor! 🙂

I wonder if I can make all the cat litter come out?

Me? I just sat back and watched…. I’ve decided to plot much naughtier things to do than that!

Silly Lula!

So that was our excitement for New Year’s Eve! I bet you had a more exciting time than that though? Lots of parties perhaps?

Take care my friends!

Bengal Cat World Advent Calendar – Day Sixteen

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’m back again, to tell you about some more kitty phrases! I must admit there are so many of them, it’s not hard to think of a phrase, but sometimes finding out about where it comes from can prove a challenge! 😯

Our gorgeous ginger boy, Robbie, is going to illustrate today’s phrase for you!

Happy Robbie

Our Robbie cat loves cream (though you should never feed a kitty too much of it as it can give us stomach upsets), so today’s phrase is “looking like the cat that got the cream“! This is a British/Australian phrase, the American equivalent is “looking like the cat that swallowed/ate the canary“.

It relates to a person who annoys other people by looking very pleased with themselves because of something good that they have done.

It’s very hard to find the origins of the phrases, but the cat that got the cream was first seen in print in Francis Grose’s ‘Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue‘ which was first published in 1785, and is a dictionary of slang words. Grose was one of the first lexicographers to collect slang words from all corners of society and must have come across this one along the way!

We hope you will join us again tomorrow when we will bring you some more feline phraseology! Miaow! 🙂

Take care my friends!

Bengal Cat World Advent Calendar – Day Three

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Welcome to day three of our advent calendar! We hope you’ve enjoyed it so far, there’s still quite a few days to go yet 🙂 It’s getting me very excited, though, I wonder what Santa Claws will bring me for Christmas? 🙂

Our Robbie cat is going to illustrate today’s phrase: It’s Raining Cats and Dogs!

Robbie sheltering from the rain 🙂

The phrase it’s raining cats and dogs is said to originate from 17th Century London. In those days long ago, cats and dogs used to hunt for mice and other vermin on the roofs of buildings. Now, when it rained heavily (as it often can do in London), it’s thought that the rain was sometimes so hard it swept the cats and dogs off the roofs, making them fall to the ground and onto the unsuspecting people walking underneath! Some people disagree with this explanation, but we think it describes the phrase purrfectly! All I can say is – phew! I’m so pleased life has moved on since then!

We hope you’ll join us tomorrow for day four! 🙂

Take care my friends!

Ten things kitties shouldn’t do… But when did that stop us?

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, we’ve spent most of it indoors because the weather has just been quite damp and miserable.  We do like being nice and snuggled indoors, like on the cuddle pics we share last time, but it does make us a bit bored and sometimes a bit naughty too!

So I thought I’d share with you my thoughts on ten things kitties shouldn’t do… but we do anyway! 🙂

1. We shouldn’t climb into household appliances. This can be very dangerous so you should always check them before you switch them on.

There’s nothing very exciting in here!

2. We shouldn’t bite our sister! 🙂 Luckily I was a kitten and only had baby teeth at the time!

Ouchie!

3. We shouldn’t stand on frozen ponds, we don’t know how thick the ice is, Robbie!

I bet your feet are cold, Robbie!

4. We shouldn’t pull all the towels onto the floor and then use them as a bed to sleep on!

Zzzzzz….. Zzzzzzz….

5. We shouldn’t escape into the big garden and then run around and not let our hoomins catch us! 🙂

Yee-ha! 🙂

6. We shouldn’t have our back to the camera when our hoomins are trying to take a photo of us!

Harry thinks this is his best side

7. We shouldn’t steal Daddy’s bit of the couch when he wants to sit down…

I like this chair!

8. We shouldn’t try and sneak up on our friends when they’re up the tree!

Scary Robbie

9. We shouldn’t go hunting for all the baby frogs and toads in the pond like little Friday loves to do!

They’re all in there somewhere!

10. We shouldn’t attempt to mow the lawn

C’mon Lula – we could do it together!

I’m sure there are lots more things your kitties do that they shouldn’t? Feel free to share in the comments 🙂

Take care my friends!

12 of the Best Cuddle Pics

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Brrrrr…. It’s getting chillier by the day, and what better way is there to keep warm than to have a nice cuddle with a good friend? Or even a sister? 😆

Here’s twelve of my favourite snuggly cuddle pics from all of us in our World! We hope you enjoy them! 🙂

First of all, we’ll go back a few years when Robbie was a little baby…

And just a few weeks later, look how much we’d grown!

Yin and Yang? 🙂

But sometimes I like a cuddle with the other cats too!

Hmm… Lula feels left out?

And Friday is so little, she needs a warming hug from time to time

We can cuddle anywhere – one of our favourite places is the squishy-down bit of the sofa!

Cuddling any time of day!

You see what I mean…? 🙂

Sort of cuddling…

I’m not sure I like Harry trying to take over my bed by the radiator though…

Ten Reasons why you Love Cats

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’re all well 🙂 Now the clocks have gone back, I can’t believe how quickly it gets dark around here! So I thought I’d try and brighten up your day by sharing some of the reasons I think you love cats so much… because I’m guessing you do, otherwise why would you be reading a feline blog?? 😆

1. You love us because we like to do impressions of things we see around us.

Is someone behind me?

2. You love us because we keep the bed warm for you when you’re not in it

Zzzz….zzzz….zzzzz….

3. You love us because we like to check things are ok in the garden

I found it first, Lula!

4. You love us because we are very clean and like to look our best!

OK… you can stop now, Lula! 🙂

6. You love us because we chase all the nasty bugs away

Get that bug!

7. You love us because we keep watch over the territory

I’ve got my eye on things 🙂

8. You love us because we like to make sure things are ok with the trees

What you found, Lula?

9.  You love us because we “help” with the gardening

Any juicy worms in there?

10. Last, but not least, you love us because we are just so cute!

Our favourite soggy moggy shots!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend? 🙂 Many of us in the UK are set to finish ours with a bang as we’re bracing ourselves for a wet and stormy night! So on that theme, I thought I’d share with you some of our soggy moggy photos! But before I do, some of you who aren’t in the UK may not know the term “moggy” – this is a term of endearment for kitties, it’s not known where it comes from but is widely used over here 🙂

So I thought I’d start with our Robbie, after he had an unintentional swim in the pond!

Hurrumph!
I’ll get that fish another day!

But sometimes we get wet on purpose as Lula and I love to play in the sink! Here we are as kittens 🙂

This is fun!
I don’t mind getting wet feet!
Lula – you check out the sink and I’ll play with the hand wash!

A good alternative to the sink is the water fountain in our cat garden!

I love playing in the water fountain!

But Robbie’s not the only one who leant a little too far to try and catch the fish!

I’ll just stand over here and pretend nothing happened!
I blame Lula – she pushed me in 😉

You would think Lula had fallen in the pond looking at this pic, but no – she had just been out in a heavy rain shower and didn’t want to come in!

Lula – you really should learn how to use an umbrella!

And let’s finish where we started! Here’s a pic after Robbie had fallen in the pond – AGAIN!! Will he never learn? 😯

Silly Robbie 🙂

You may wonder why there are no pics of Harry or Friday? It’s not that we deliberately excluded them, it’s just that we don’t have any pics of them being soggy moggies! They’re much too wise to fall in ponds or play in the fountain! 🙂

Take care my friends!
