Bengal Cat World Advent Calendar – Day Thirteen

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Ooooh! I think I’d better stay indoors and have lots of catnaps today, for my own safety you understand!! Why? Well, it’s Friday the 13th isn’t it? 😯 Did you know that a person who has a phobia of this date is said to suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia? No? I didn’t know that either!

But back to the kitty phrases and their meanings / origins 🙂 Here’s today’s pic:

I wonder how many of you will have heard of todays phrase… If you are a Belgian person you might have! 🙂 A Belgian might exclaim that the cat is in the clock meaning that a husband and wife are arguing (possibly like cat and dog) and the family cat has sought refuge. Maybe the cat is looking for the mice who ran up the clock in the nursery rhyme, Hickory Dickory Dock!

I better stop now as I seem to be getting obsessed with various different phrases!

Oh, and by the way… you may have been wondering what the link is between the pic and the phrase? The answer is there isn’t one! I couldn’t find a pic of any of us kitties hiding in a clock, so I just chose this pic of Lula instead as I thought it was cute! 🙂

Take care my friends!
Love from Spot

  1. Haha! Spot you gave me a laugh that I needed!! And lovely Lula and those dreamy blue eyes! The number 13 is a lucky number for me as that’s the day of the month my husband and I were married although it was a Saturday way back then! And not to say the cat hasn’t been in the clock a time or two during all these years! Lol!!! Love this. xxxxx

  2. You are one clever boy Spot……have you got an encyclopedia to help you with all your facts….or do you just google? Either way,,,supersmart 😀

    1. Google, Mairi 🙂 I can’t turn the pages in a book, my paws turn too many at once, and quite often I like to chew the pages too! 😈 xxx

  3. Awww Thanks King Spot! Once again I´ve learnt something new 😎 , next time Jonny and I argue like that I´ll say that Mirrin and Selmin is in the clock 😉 . Never heard it before, it´s really interesting to learn new sayings all the time <3 Thank you for helping us

      1. Not much, but sometimes we have different opinions about stuff, and to tell the truth I´m quite persistent 🙄 , so hubby have problems to have anything to say then 😯 . Then it could be that the cats are in the clock
