All the news from the Show!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

As you may know, Lula and I were both at the Merseyside cat show yesterday so, as promised, here’s all the news for you in detail! 🙂

We had to get up very early as we were giving Sue our breeder, and Duty Vet at the show, a ride as she can’t use her car at the moment. So my daddy got up first and after giving us our breakfast, he then let me and Lula have a run round outside in our cat garden! My mummy wasn’t happy when she got up a little while later because she’d given us both a good groom and clean up the night before! 😯

But then, when she came out to get us back in, she realised we were staying quite clean, and Lula wasn’t rolling round in the catmint like she usually likes to do, so she let us stretch our paws out there for a bit longer 😉

Very soon afterwards, we were on the road and off to the show! We had heard that there was meant to be severe weather and storms, but it was really quite bright and sunny as we drove so we thought perhaps some of the weather people had had one too many liquid refreshments or something…

We got to the venue, parked up and into the show hall safe and sound. Then we passed vetting in with flying colours and mummy made sure we were settled in our pens

She then went back out to collect all the stuff she has (and it’s a lot! 😯 ) for the trade stand. Just as she was getting everything together, guess what? The heavens opened and she just managed to get back inside before the ferocious thunder storm! So perhaps those weather people do know what they’re talking about after all?

In the show hall, things were a little less dramatic. Lula was in her Olympian class where she competes against all other breeds, and I was in my Imperial class where I compete against all other breeds in the ‘Foreign’ category. Both of us had very stiff competition, and neither of us got the title certificate, though Lula did get Best of Breed.

Please stop sticking your tongue out, Lula! 🙂

Lula is a natural show girl and loves strutting about in her pen

I’m ok as long as I get one of my favourite treats or two!

Hey! Where’s my treats? 🙂

But by far the best performance of the day was that of our half-sister, Lucy, who Sue took to the show. It was the very first show she had competed in and boy did she do well! She won all of her classes, including Best of Breed, and then she also won Best of Variety, Foreign. Which basically means she was judged to be the best cat in the Foreign category out of all the kittens, adults and neuters! Here she is with Sue – a natural star!

Being Best of Variety also meant she was up for Best in Show, but before that, she was in a special kitten class where all the ‘Best of’ kittens for each variety competed against each other – this includes British, Persians, Semi Longhairs, Siamese etc. Here’s the judge of that special class checking her out!

Hey! I hope you’ve warmed your hands up!

And the great news is – She won that class! Clever girl! Then she went straight from that class to the Best in Show judging! It was all so exciting! Here’s the Best in Show judge having a good look at her!

Hmmm.. I wonder what’s happening over there?

Lucy just took it all in her stride and loved all the attention! Unfortunately, she didn’t win Best in Show, it was won by a very much more mature and experienced Maine Coon who has won BiS at many many shows, but she still did herself proud! What a great day for her and Sue! 🙂

After that, it was time to pack up and go home. Luckily it wasn’t raining when we left, it was sunny again, though as we got nearer to Sue’s we encountered yet another thunder storm! Luckily it stopped by the time we got to Sue’s house 😉 My mummy and daddy had a quick visit inside to see the kittens, and then we all went home where we had a special dinner and a nice catnap!

Take care my friends!

Love from Spot

  1. What are they looking for when they hold the kitty on two legs? They look like they’re searching for something.

  2. I think you’re right Spot, Lula is a natural show girl! Once day you’ll both get your certificates, I have absolute confidence in you both.

Lucy is a stunner. I have no other words to describe her. Great markings and she’ll only improve with age, just like you and Lula are doing. <3

Thanks for the update and the great photos!

  3. Brilliant photos as usual Spot. It doesn’t matter to your fans that you didn’t win, you know you’re our Favourite M

  4. I was going to say you’re our Favourite Male Bengal, must have pressed the wrong key!! Lula did very well, she’s our Favorite Female Bengal. Hope your Mummy had a successful day with her stall. You and Lula were such good kitties I’m so pleased you got some treats, you deserved them xx ♥ ♥

    1. Thanks, Edna! My mummy had a great day on the stall with lots of sales and interest 🙂 <3 xxx

  5. Awww Spot and Lula you did really well! I´m proud to be your friend 😳 ! 😀 I think your half sister is going to be a real star also. She obviously has it in her genes  . I mean your sister 😉 . It was interesting to see her also at the show. Now you relax until next show! Love you sweet babies! 😛 <3

  6. Well done both of you. I’m sure you are proud of your sister getting Best of Breed. Sounds like there was some pretty stiff competition there. As for Lucy’ s successes , she certainly showed that Sue breeds Champions and that’s good because we can all have high hopes for your new little brother as he grows up. Or is he destined to be a Stud and start a new line of Champs ?

    1. He won’t be a stud, Mavis, because he wouldn’t be able to live inside the house as a stud cat and first and foremost we are beloved members of the family 🙂 But he will hopefully go to shows and do as well as Lucy, and also as well as Lula and i have done <3 xxx

      1. Only just caught up with your reply Spot. I didn’t realise that Studs (and Queens too maybe) wouldn’t just be one of the family. Do they have to be housed separately then ? So really I’m glad that Spike can just join your pack and grow and thrive with the rest of you gorgeous guys. But I do hope he’ll get to Shows and be a Champ like you and Lula. Looking forward and counting down the weeks til you Fab Five become the Super Six ! Wonder how Dad’s going to get a picture of you all together ?

        1. Studs are usually housed separately, some Queens can stay as part of the family, it depends if they spray or not – some do, some don’t 🙂 We’ve not thought of how we’re going to do the new pic yet <3 xx

  7. Great mews again, Spot! 😀 Sorry you didn’t win anything 🙁 , but at least Lula and Lucy did well. 😉 . . . You know in my heart you two are the tops!! 😛 Keep working hard!! You will get there — I firmly believe that! <3 Mommy and Daddy take great care of you! Lucy is absolutely stunning!! Great post. . .love and prayers to all at BCW. . . <3 <3 <3

    1. Purrrrrrrr 🙂 Lula did well, that’s because she’s a natural poser, Kathy 😛 I prefer a bit of a catnap myself  xxx
