Spotlight on … Friday

Hello my friends, Spot here!

So here we are at the penultimate episode of my focus on the cats in our World and today the Spotty Spotlight is on Friday! Many of you will know quite a lot about Friday already, but just in case you don’t here’s a brief history of our little tabby girl 🙂

Pretty Friday

Friday was born in March 1998, so she’s almost 17 years old – her mother gave birth whilst at the cat rescue centre, and so Friday came along 🙂 She also had two brothers who quickly found new homes. No-one wanted Friday as they said she was the runt of the litter and too small – until my mummy and daddy came along that is! They fell in love straight away and took her home as soon as she was ready, to live with the other cats they had at that time – Charlie, Misty and Bill (female) who were all rescue cats too 🙂

Petite Friday

Friday got her name because when she was a little baby, she ate some of her mummy’s dry food and it got stuck in her throat. Luckily, the vet didn’t live far away from the rescue centre and he rushed round and managed to dislodge the food and saved her life! All that happened on Good Friday, hence her name 🙂

Friday has used up just about all of her 9 lives… she once went missing for nearly two weeks in one of the hottest summers we’d had. It was never known where she had been, she just turned up out of the blue and asked when dinner was going to be served! 😆 She was a bit skinny (even for her) and very hungry/thirsty actually so it’s a good job she came back when she did. Another time, she came home one evening limping and was rushed off to the emergency vet – it turned out she had broken her leg, and she had to wear a little plaster cast for a few weeks! This is not to mention the time she stole a whole raw chicken (daddy’s dinner) off the worktop and ran into the bushes into the field with it and chomped away at it – daddy wasn’t happy! My mummy (who is a vegetarian) said it was funny watching her run down the garden with it though, the chicken was almost bigger than her! 😆

Pondering another adventure?

Friday really is one in a million… she just accepts anything that’s thrown at her without complaint 🙂 She has accepted all 6 cats who have come to live with her straight away with no nastiness or complaint. She will let mummy trim her claws without a sound, unlike Lula who miaows so loud, it’s a wonder people haven’t called the authorities by now! 😯

Such a patient girl! 🙂

But there is no denying she is slowing down now as she gets older and she does like her rest (when she can get it)…

She may ponder some indoor exercise sometimes …

Should I get some exercise?

… but she definitely doesn’t like the cold weather and rarely goes out in the winter, she prefers a snuggly snooze in a sun puddle!

Zzzz… Zzzz… Zzzz…

So that’s a potted history of our eldest and smallest cat, my friends – yes, Annie now weighs a little more than Friday does 🙂

So we only have one last cat to feature in my Spotty Spotlight and if you’ve followed my posts, you won’t need to have the deductive powers of Sherlock Holmes to work out who it is 😆 BUT! I am going to make you wait a little longer for the final episode, as next week I’ll be bringing you all the news from the cat show Spike and Lula are going to on Caturday!

Take care my friends!

Love from Spot

xxxxxxx

  1. What a brilliant blog Spotty cat, you’ve excelled yourself this week. Friday’s such a sweet little old lady, you’ll all have to be kind to her (which I’m sure you already are!) as she grows older. You’re quite right about the 9 lives, she’s certainly got through a few 🙂 🙂 xx

  2. love Friday, my oldest Cali was born June of ’97, 9 months difference in age, like Friday Cali is slowing down a bit, but can still move when she has too 🙂

  3. Hiya Friday, you are one lovely Tabby Lady, Spot has lots of nice things to say about you. Wishing You many more years in pure Cat Bliss with Spot, Lula and all your other whiskered family members. Love You Lots Sweetie <3 xxxx A Big Hug for You !!!

  4. My sweet tabby Friday! I fell in love with you first as you are my exactly my idea of a beautiful kitty. Stay healthy in your sun puddle!

    1. Thanks, Carol! For her age, Friday is quite healthy – she has no ailments, she’s just noticeably getting less active though she does like a bit of play when she’s in the mood 🙂

  5. What a very sweet girl Friday is! She must have a wonderful nature to put up with all those new addition. Sounds like she was quite a card in her day! 😉

  6. Great blog yet again Spot. Friday is such a special kitty and doing wonderfully well as a senior among all you boisterous youngsters. Please be sure to show her the respect she deserves ! To steal a quote – live long and prosper sweet Friday.

    1. Thanks, Pauline 🙂 We can only really take two cats to a show maximum, due to limited space in the car (being as mummy has all her trade stand things to take too) and also the expense! It soon adds up in entry fees when you take more than one cat 🙂 So it was Lula’s turn for a show, and it was also not a bad thing for Annie to have a little break 🙂 There are 2 shows in March and Annie will be going to both of those with Spike going to one and Lula the other, hence none of them are being over-showed 🙂 So overall, over the next three shows, each cat will have been to 2 each 🙂 xx

  7. Spot. . . very lovely post about Friday. My my, she has been through a lot in her 17 years!! As I now have several seniors over the age of 10, I can understand about them “slowing down”. . . however, if they are all happy and healthy, that’s all we can ask for — and to keep them comfortable, happy and healthy in their golden years. . . She is such a pretty girl — my Mittens (who is now 7) is very petite also. . .(and rotten as the dickens — MOL!!) God bless her with health and happiness in her senior years. . . love to all at BCW!!! You folks are so pawsome!! ♥♥♥

    1. Purrrrrrr! Friday says thank you for your kind words, Diane 🙂 We hope you and all your kitties are well <3 <3 <3
