Review of 2012, Part One: January – March

Hello my friends, Spot here!

Hello!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the Christmas period and holiday season! I think it’s quite natural at this time of year to reflect on the months gone by, so I thought I’d do a little mini-series of our year! It’s certainly been a busy one πŸ™‚ So this is part 1, parts 2 to 4 will follow over the next few days! I hope you’ll enjoy sharing our journey down memory lane with us πŸ˜‰

Β JANUARY

The magic castle
The magic castle

My mummy and daddy celebrated the New Year with a short trip to DisneyLand, Paris! They said we weren’t allowed to go, so we had to stay at home with our cat sitter. Β Sometimes our hoomins can be quite mean to us! πŸ˜‰

We love our new bed!

I think mummy and daddy felt quite guilty about leaving us at home at New Year because not long after they came home, they bought us a lovely new bed! This is actually a big dog bed, so it can fit Lula and me in quite easily! There’s even room for Harry, Friday and Robbie if they ever feel like joining us πŸ™‚

I’m a clever boy!

Early on in January, we went to the first cat show of the year – the Short-Haired Cat Club show! We were still classed as kittens as we were 8 months old – you are a kitten up to 9 months old. Kittens don’t compete to earn certificates towards titles, but we both did very well nonetheless! We both came first in our respective breed classes and we both also won Best of Breed! My mummy was very pleased and so were we! πŸ™‚

Hey! Move over a little

You can see how little we still were in January as we were able to both fit comfortably on our perch by the window – though Lula said I took up more than half of the space! πŸ™‚

Checking out the big, wide world – or the big field at least! πŸ™‚

At this point, we had both been neutered and micro-chipped so we were allowed supervised access outside. We live in the countryside and have a big field behind our house, so it was quite safe for us to go outside.

FEBRUARY

Pretty girl πŸ™‚

February started off with another cat show – this time it was our “home” show, the Shropshire Cat Club show. We live in Shropshire, though the show actually takes place in the neighbouring county of Staffordshire which is slightly strange πŸ˜‰

But I expect you want to know how we did? Well, this was our final show as kittens, Lula got first in her breed class, but didn’t get Best of Breed, this went to another kitten called Gavin, who was bred by the same lady who bred us. I not only got 1st in my Breed class, I also got BoB and I also came first in all of my 3 side classes! So I won every class I was entered into, which is called a “red card day”!! My mummy was so pleased, particularly when Gavin and I were up against each other in the final class of the day, and whoever won would have the red card day – and it was me!

The show was closed early unfortunately, as there was heavy snow falling outside, so they didn’t do the Best in Show classes. This was a shame as my mummy thinks I might have done quite well, but you can’t win ’em all! The main thing was to get home safely which would have been easier if we had been in Shropshire and not Staffordshire… πŸ˜‰

Isn’t this posh?

Our mummy had been thinking for a little while about setting up a Facebook page and website for us, so in early February we went to my mummy’s friend’s house to have some posh photos taken…. Her friend, Rebecca, is a professional photographer and took some great pics for mummy to use πŸ™‚

So mummy set everything up but unfortunately there was a bit of a delay as my daddy was rushed to hospital with a collapsed lung! This meant also that we missed one of the cat shows we were meant to go to as obviously our daddy’s health comes first! Luckily he made a full recovery – phew! πŸ™‚

MARCH

So daddy recovered from his illness and our Facebook/Twitter/Website pages were all set up – you might recognise this one from our Facebook timeline?

I love drinking water from the pond πŸ™‚

We were still allowed out in the garden during the daytime and I loved nothing better than a drink from the pond! I never did manage to catch any fish though πŸ˜‰

Careful up there, Lula!

One of Lula’s favourite pastimes was climbing up the oak tree in our garden! She was very good at getting up, but coming down was often a lot more tricky!

Relaxing at the show

We were supposed to go to 2 shows in March – one at the beginning and one at the end, but the paperwork for the one at the beginning got lost in the post!

So here we are at our first show as adult Neuters, the Blackpool and Preston Cat Club show. Β We both did very well again! We both won our breed classes and our first Premier Certificates πŸ™‚ We need three of those to earn the title of Premier cat…. you’ll have to wait until our next installments to see how we achieved that!

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the first three months of our year! Part 2 will follow soon – watch this space!

Take care my friends!

Love from Spot xxxx

  1. Love you two so much! Beautiful and smart kitties. This is what the internet is perfect for, making friends around the world that you feel you really know. Your hoomins seem pretty neat, too, but, really, Disneyland Paris in January! Lol Glad your Daddy is better and I look forward to new installments and the new kitten sibling!

    1. Thank you, Carol! And thanks for being such a lovely friend to us in 2012 πŸ™‚ We’re not sure when our little sister will come along, a lot depends on that great lady, Mother Nature! πŸ™‚ xxx

  2. Spot, I have really enjoyed getting to read about the first part of your year. I can’t wait for the next part. I’m glad your Daddy is better now and I can tell that he and Mummy love all of you precious fur-babies so very much.

    1. Thank you, Wilda! Yes, they do love us all very much and spoil us too! We will be publishing part 2 very soon πŸ™‚ xxx

  3. Did you pick a name for her yet? I can’t wait to ‘meet’ her! My baby boy is on my lap right now! It is a horrible cold nasty day that started with snow, moved to sleet and now wind-driven rain. Nothing better on a day like that than a cat on your lap.

    1. Oooh yes, I agree with your last sentence, Carol πŸ™‚ We haven’t chosen a name yet… my mummy is preparing a shortlist but ultimately will decide when she sees the little furry in person. πŸ™‚ xxx

  4. Spot, Lula, Robbie, Friday and Harry — and of course — Mommy & Daddy!! : Journeys down memory lane are always fun when you have cats!!! My crew and I are so happy to be your friends. We love seeing the new pics of all of you. Looking forward to the other installments as well as the new ‘bundle of joy’ when Mother Nature decides to bring her along!! We wish all of you the best in the New Year — and more titles to be won!!! Mommy and Daddy are doing a tremendous job with both you and Lula. I’m sure both of you will get your ultimate titles this year!!! Keep the updates and pics coming. I so love them!!! πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Diane! Thank you for your lovely words and for being such a great friend to us! Happy New Year to you, Tyson and your 12 kitty kids! πŸ™‚ xxxx

  5. Hi, you must really enjoy just adorable creatures you have! I wish I lived closer to go and meet them. I live in Uruguay, South America, but if I ever go to the UK and it’s possible to you, I would love to visit you and see them personally. I do love Spot and Lula. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, AND YOUR CAT FAMILY!
