Bengal Cat World Advent Calendar – Day Nineteen

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I think I’m going to burst with excitement! I have seen kitty Christmas stockings that no doubt will be hung up by the fireplace soon! 😆 But I just want to know one thing, and I bet my friends will be able to answer this question for me: Why is it that Santa Claws is allowed to go up and down chimneys, yet when I did it (and made Lula do it too), I get told off and put in the bath?? 😯 That one has been puzzling me for some time…

Here’s today’s pic!

On the fence… 🙂

We’re back to our friend, Shakespeare, for today’s kitty word and origin! 🙂 The word is catcalls! The word means a shrill whistle or shout of disapproval made at a public meeting or performance.

It originated back in Shakespeare’s time when impatient gentlemen of that era made noises that sounded like a fence full of howling cats to register their disapproval of a performance! You can imagine the scene! Loud and not elegant at all – not at all like us kitties, we would never resort to such low levels of behaviour! 😉

Please don’t forget to let me know what you think the answer is to my puzzling question that I asked at the beginning of this post! 🙂

Take care my friends!
Love from Spot

  1. If ever you hear a catcall directed at you or any of your housemates you let me know! I’ll have a word with the caller <3

  2. Spotty cat, Santa paws is allowed up and down chimneys for 2 reasons and both involve magic! First, his suit is magical and doesn’t get all sooty like yours and Lulas do and second is that he and his magic bring toys and happiness to billions of children every Christmas. He can only do this by using chimneys as a time machine since he’s got so many deliveries in one night!! ❤️

  3. Shucks! Sarah beat me to the answer about Santa Claws! I was also going to see he has magic powers, which mean he doesn’t get all sooty like you and Lula……maybe he could leave you some ‘magic’ in your kitty stockings 😀 <3

  4. Apparently we all were going to tell you and Lula about the magical night of Christmas Eve! It’s one of the best nights of the year, isn’t it Spot! I’m certainly glad I was not around in Mr. Shakespeare’s time to listen to the men doing their thing! Lol! xxxxx

  5. I think Santa Claws have some magic trick he can do so he doesn´t get dirty, even if he´s big as a ball, he just slims down to a tread while going through the chimney 😆 . The only reason I can think he is able to do it… 😉 I do also believe the same as Sarah. That´s the reason also

  6. Spot, I have to agree with Sarah and Mairi !! 😎 It is a magical presence that Santa has — a gift from God — to make our Christmas’ so special !! 😎 He has a magical ability to keep from getting all sooty — unlike you Spot. 😯 But maybe you can find that magic someday, and be able to climb the chimney and keep from getting all sooty too!! 😉

As for today’s phrase. . . I have heard this, and did know the meaning of it, but didn’t know the origin. 😮 More education for me!! 😉 Keep the fun facts coming!! Looking forward to Day 20!! <3 <3 <3
