All the news from the cat show!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I’m sorry I’m a little late writing my blog today – I have to dictate to my mummy who types for me (my paws are rather large for the keyboard) and she was very rude and decided to go out to the movies earlier this evening with her friend! 😯 So that left me kind of in the lurch! My daddy was here and I managed to get quite a few of my favourite chicken treats from him, but he said he was too busy to help me write my blog, so I’ve had to wait for my mummy to come home.
But she’s here now, so we’ll get on with sharing all the news from the cat show yesterday!

So, just to explain a little fact – some UK GCCF shows are double or even triple shows. This is where they have more than one show happening at the same time, in the same hall. If your cat is eligible, you’re allowed to enter 2 shows if you wish (you have to pay twice of course 😉 ).

Yesterday it was a triple show – the National Cat Club Show, and two smaller ones. Spike wasn’t eligible to enter the smaller ones, but as a household pet, Annie is able to enter almost any show, so this is what she did yesterday! She was in the Sphynx Cat Club show and the National too 🙂

It was a very early start to the day as the show was taking place quite a long way from home, and Sue the breeder was also going – she showed Spike and Annie’s mum, Flirtini 🙂 So they all went together – my daddy drove them all there and my mummy drove home 🙂

They got there nice and early and passed through vetting in with flying colours, then it was over to clean the pens and put inside clean blankets, litter trays, water and food. All that was left then was for Spike and Annie to settle in and have a few final checks to make sure they were still clean and tidy.

It was then a waiting game for the judges to make their decisions! It seemed to take forever, but eventually all the results came in.

Annie had a good day, though not as good as in some other shows 😆 In the Sphynx show, she came 1st in her main class and also beat the boys to be Best of Breed; she then came 2nd and 3rd in her side classes. In the National show, she came first but a Bengal boy beat her to Best of Breed, and she came first and second in her side classes. So she had lots of rosettes to show off!

Spike’s judge was very very torn between him and another boy to award 1st place in his main class. He took ages to make his mind up …. but eventually he awarded 1st place to the other boy and 2nd place to Spike. He wrote on the results sheet that it was ‘very close’ which is quite unusual. Spike’s side classes were quite big – he came 3rd out of 6 in one, and was unplaced out of 7 in his other one! This means that this was the least good that Spike has done so far in his show career, but we don’t mind and Spike was quite chilled out about it all…

Annie was also quite chilled out and was thinking about having a look around the hall!

As the show started to draw towards a close, all of Annie’s rosettes had been handed out and put on her pen, and Spike was able to leave his pen and join her. Not that you can see them very well!

Soon after that, it was time to pack up for the long journey home. We had all been good kitties back at the ranch, so we had some yummy food and treats and a bit of a play before a nice catnap 🙂

I hope that explains things for you all, but if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the section below this post! 🙂

Take care my friends!
Love from Spot xxxxxxx

  1. Thank you for all the wonderful explanations Spot. Your daddy will have to put an addition on the main house just to hold all the rosettes you guys bring home! ♥♥♥

  2. Brilliant blog as usual Spot. It wasn’t very considerate to make you wait until your Mummy came home, she should have realised that you find it difficult to type! I think I’d get a secretary if I were you, I’d apply for that post in a second lol. I don’t care who won and who didn’t, I think both the peskies and all you other kitties are beautiful and you’ve 1st place in my life, I think you’re all so lovable xx <3 <3

    1. Awwww….. thanks, my friend! You are very kind to me. I think I might look into employing a secretary, after all my mummy can be very unreliable at times! 😯 😯 xxxx

  3. Awww Annie did very well, so did Spike even though he didn´t get as much rosettes as Annie! But that doesn´t matter, he is just really cute anyway! Altough Spot, I think you are the cutest of them all.. 😳 . (Ps don´t tell the others) 😉

  4. Wonderful news from the show! Spike seems to be a very chilled and confident boy in his pen, and what a collection of rosettes!! Awesome! <3 Annie did wonderfully well. What very talented and beautiful cats you all are <3 Mummy and Daddy, and Sue must be seriously chuffed at your rosette haul! Well done…..now to relax for Christmas xxxx

    1. Thanks, Mairi! We now have two months off before the next show which isn’t until Feb so we will have lots of catnaps over Christmas I think 🙂 We wish you a very merry Christmas too! <3 xxxx

  5. such a bagful of rosettes, can hardly see the babes thru the screen of ribbons ! Annie did so well in her various shows so big congratulations to her. As for Spike, it must have been very stiff completion for him not to carry off a bunch of firsts ! Very well done indeed to both of them. Spot, do you know if Firtini took any ribbons home wit her ?
I’m sure Mum and Dad need congratulations too for presenting the young uns in such prime condition, please tell them I said so. Hope everyone has recovered from such a long journey and a tiring day. Thanks for your great blog and pics Spot.

    1. Thanks, Mavis! Flirtie didn’t have a great show, she came 2nd in one of her classes, so she took home even less rosettes than Spike. It wasn’t the best of days, but far from being the worst too so all is well 🙂 xx

  6. Well done Annie and Spike. What a lovely lot of rosettes! I would have given lovely Spike 1st place! How did Flirtini do? You Mummy and Daddy must be very proud of all of you lovely kitties. I’m sure you made sure all the others behaved at home Spot! xxx

    1. I was a very good boy at home, Julie (I have bribed the others with my favourite chicken treats so they will back me up on that one 😉 ) Flirtie got a 2nd place, but no other placings so it wasn’t her best performance either, but never mind. You win some, you lose some! That’s what makes it fun 🙂 xx

  7. Hi Spot, we loved hearing how Annie and Spike got on at the show (our mummy read it to us), they are so clever at winning. Annie has got so many rosettes. We have never been to a show because we are F3 Bengals, but mummy and daddy say we are stars anyway. We love hearing about all your fun and antics. Well done. Love Dexta and Fergie xx

    1. Oooh yes, it’s silly that you have to be an F4 onwards to be able to enter. Silly organisers, we’re sure you would do very well as you are both so gorgeous 🙂 Mind you, you would have quite a long way to travel to many shows 😐 Thanks for your lovely support   xxxx

  8. Gratz to the “kids” — Annie & Spike! I’m sure all of you are very proud of them. BCW is #1 in my heart. Keep up the pawsitive work!! And I’m sure that Mummy and Daddy have lots of rosettes accumulated from all of you — and very well deserved! 😉 From all of us here to all of BCW. .. Merry Christmas and have a blessed, pawsome New Year!! ♥♥♥

    1. Hello Diane! Many thanks to you and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all of your kitties and your son too!  xxxx

    1. They are still pesky, Diane, whatever rosettes they win 🙂 Spike said thanks very much and sent you a kitty kiss! 😀 😀 xxx

  9. Oh Spot the little pesky kittens did well didn’t they? Pleased you were a good boy and looked after the house for the hoomins. x
